Faster 3g Speed configuration

this actually slowed down my DL speed I start at 1.01 before mod to .38 after mod

I don't believe I missed any of the instructions anyone else with similar results

I had the same issue when I first changed the proxy settings . It took me several attempts and changing things around until I got the performance I was looking for . When I say changing things around , I mean really changing things around ( Odin recovery ED13 , OTA EE14 update, re-installing all Shabbymods , etc, etc, etc , ) . If you're not having issues , don't feel comfortable with digging in to your OS and don't want to take a chance on bricking your phone , I would leave well enough alone . If you do feel OK with it , get-r-done ! I'm glad I did .

I would say, be patient and spend several days checking your speeds.

Benchmarks can vary widely due to traffic and networks conditions. In a previous post on this thread I mention that my results after 0.0.0.0 vary.

Best to test conditions at a similar time of day and from the same location, and for several pulls.

Compare apples to apples and such.

I will probably give it another try then. I just installed the shabby mod shortly after that post and became completely preoccupied with that. Thanks for the tips!

and as far as bricking my phone goes if it happens it happens it will just be another learning experience and it will join a large pile other learned experiences either way I will be having fun with it

I could not agree more, WetBiker. I am actually glad my first phone bricked. This second one with the official OTA and Optimus battery tips is running much better as far as signal and battery life.

I went the way of wetbiker and called Boost to get my MSL #! They were very pleasant and too eager to help (for my liking anyway) Then she ased what i was trying to do reset my settings? I said yes and then she started telling what else i needed to do. I said I think i cant handle it from here Thanks and goodbye!
Now i wonder if im gonna find out if i had any Boost visitors on my phone! !
Anyway it worked great! 5 bars here!

LOL @ the Boost visitors comment !!!! Try the Shabbykernel , it is located a few post down in this thread . You will also need Odin to install it !!

where does one get the SPHM820.ops file and on odin,where do you select it???
I know the tar file goes to the pda. And do you need to setup your phone in any special way???

the answers should all be in the download, and if not then in the thread for it.
the .ops is in the download for sure. there are 3 tar files boot, pda, and phone there are spots corresponding to all of those in odin

Maybe I spoke too soon I ran odin with just the ops.file in the place for ops. and boot image file in pda!?!
There were no other files for phone and boot!?!
In the odin d.load there were 2 files-odin & ops. In kernal there is 1-boot.img!?!
So where are the elusive tar files for the phone & boot spots?????

STOP !!!!!! Do not use any other zips when installing the Shabbykernel . All you need is the OPS in the Odin download and add the Shabbykernel to the PDA slot . Hit start and an error message may pop up , Disregard this message and click start .



EDIT: The other tar. files are for recovery . They are not needed for the Shabbykernel .

I just was thinking out loud thinking about optimus's last post to me!

WHEW ! LOL !! Those other zips are for the recovery . I have no idea what would have happened if you had started Odin with the other tar. files added with the Shabbykernel . Glad you got it working .

Sorry I should have been clearer for flashing stock image you would use the boot and phone .tar's

I think its BS when companys pulled that kind of crap! Spying.keylogging etc.
There ought to be a law against it!
There was a school in Philadelphia pa. that pulled that kind of crap when they loaned school pc,s out to their students. The students said they saw the camera light come on while they had it open listening to music or whatever and the school amitted that they had software on the pc s to do that. they said it was for tracking purposes! lol

then hit edit. you'll be asked to put in your msl. (6 digit number)
next go to others, then multimedia.
you'll have four listings
RTSP Proxy address
RTSP proxy port <--- click this one and change it to 0.0.0.0
HTTPPD proxy address
HTTPPD proxy port <-- click this one and change it to 0.0.0.0

To make sure it sticks, reboot the phone and check the settings again. some people have said that it goes back to the old settings.

to find your msl number, easiest way to do it is download terminal emulator open it up, type su and enter, superuser will pop up, press allow. then type getprop ril.MSL exactly as it is with MSL in caps. then press enter. you'll get the 6 digit code then.

Are you sure it's the proxy ports we change? Because other posts I've read say to change the proxy addresses.

Not sure if this would go here or in the All Things Root section but I found a way that will really give your speeds a boost. I found the 3G Turbo charger script over on xda but instead of using script manager and the script they have, I just went into the build.prop file and edited it directly using one of the options in the sample build.prop they have on the post. I now have down speeds averaging 900-1200kbps and up speeds averaging 150-200kbps. Here's the link if anyone's interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15948434&postcount=1127
I used the Update 3 test 8 settings.
