Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

Some apps I use

Missed Reminder - normally the only way to see if you've missed a call/SMS is to switch on the screen this app is useful as you can set it to play a tone at intervals to suit you.

Notifymyway - instead of single vibrate you choose various vibrate patterns or design your own.

BTFon - if you have your broadband with BT this is a good app for connecting to BT hotspots

Days Left - lets you add widget with days remaining to an event

gString Free - if you're a guitar player a good tuning app

Kies Air - if you're a Sammy owner allows you to browse phone via web browser

Netcounter - useful if you want to keep an eye on your data useage

Wifi Analyizer and Overlook Fing - handy apps for IT bods

Wifinder - useful app for almost anyone

Widgetsoid - lets you add a toolbar on your home screen where you can quickly toggle ringer, BT, GPS, Wifi, screen brightness, etc. You can decide on buttons and appearance.

I forgot about Firewallet. It's a checkbook register. I can enter transactions very quickly and easily. And run multiple accounts.

MyBackupPro - Backup/Restore your contacts, calendar, apps, sms, playlists, alarms, home screens, etc to SD card. Also does scheduled backups. :)

TubeMate (download any youtube video or music video and convert it to mp3 straight to your, "all ready installed mp3 player" super fast and super easy!)

JUICE DEFENDER
(saves battery life like you would not believe)

SOUNDHOUND (while listening in the car i hear a song i like and want to know the name and artist i click "listen and in less than 5 seconds it tells me everything about the song) very fast too!!

Wall paper wizardii (customizes your wall paper.. any size, scrollable, ect...)

No offense intended but that wallpaper app looks scary...2.5 stars. Have you read the reviews? Does it work? ??

For UK users: SayNoTo0870 is another one I'm really fond of. It actually saves you money. Quite a lot if you spend loads of time on hold, ringing companies.

You simply input the 0870, 0845 or 0844 number you're trying to ring and the app gives you an alternative landline number for the same company. Just click on the number and it dials out for you.

I just tried SimiFolder, don't like it nearly as well as Folder Organizer (which is very fast also). But yeah, neither lets you label new apps easily. They should go into a "recently added" folder, so they're easy to find. I may not have played with Simi enough... but it doesn't seem to have nearly as many icon options. With Folder Organizer you can use any icon on your phone, plus any from the app, for a folder icon. Makes it easy to distinguish various folders (games, mulimedia, etc) without having a label (I prefer no labels).

Lots of great suggestions here, thanks!

I like SimiFolder. Very quick and clean but I wish it would notify me when a new app doesn't have a label so I can quickly assign it one and have it show up in the relevant folder. Like Folder Organizer

Have you tried Group My Apps. Lets you put things in folders.

I see it Group My Apps for Android | AppBrain.com but won't let me install it (doesn't appear to be on the Market).

edit: While looking for your suggestion I came across: http://www.appbrain.com/app/auto-app-organizer-free/com.utility.autoapporganizer It seems to do exactly what I want... new apps are put into a "Newbie" folder so you can label them easily. The app is also half the size of Folder Organizer that I am using and like.

edit#2: I'm liking Auto Organizer! It can use "Better" Icon Packs, so you pretty much have unlimited icon changeability (for screen or dock). Developer says he's going to add Bookmark link feature.

I've tried a lot of weather apps and widgets. Got Weatherbug Pro free thru Amazon, tried local weather/news apps, and probably 5 others... ended up with Weather Buddy and Instant Radar. These two apps combined are 1/3 the size of Weatherbug... they probably do 2/3 less, but do everything I look for in a weather app. Not a widget, just weather when you want to look at it. My app space is getting precious! I shop for apps that do the most with the least space.

Have you tried Group My Apps. Lets you put things in folders.

I like Foursquare...
foursquare xilinhot.jpg
..as I'm the mayor of everything.

Awesome, thanks man! I use that website all the time but didn't realise they had an app too! :)

THANKS FOR THIS GREAT THREAD! I'm on the Moto Milestone losing sleep installing apps.
So far, favs are:
-ES File Explorer
-chompSMS
-Unit Converter - Convert Pad
-DockRunner
-Documents to Go (paid)
-Keeper (paid)

QUESTION: Does anyone know an SMS app that will allow me to SCHEDULE sending messages -- like write it at 3AM but it doesn't go out until 8AM?

auto sms

1Tap Cleaner - Cleans the phone cache and frees internal storage for apps.
Works also auto on schedule. Freeware! :)

so i've been looking around on xda and I'm not able to find what you're talking about. do you have a link by chance?

I haven't been able to find it either, but I'm not rooted, so I didn't worry about it. I have to say that their Captcha Image Verification is one of the worst I've ever had to use. I think I've only been able to make out about two of the choices so far. Must be my old eyes.

Okay programmers, here's my million dollar idea. Those familiar with Family Guy will appreciate my desire to have my own personal Theme Music. That said, I want a locale plugin that ties GPS to the MP3 player on my phone. That way, whenever I hit a certain location, I can have my own theme music. - Consider this my contribution to pissing off all the non-geeks of the world. :-)

Tasker will already do this. It will use a GPS location to trigger an action which could then play your theme music.

And for my million dollar solution I could even walk you through setting it up step by step in about 3 minutes ;)
