Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

You have a choice. You can set it to backup your pictures as well, for example, or your contacts only, or both.

My contacts sync to my gmail account and vice versa, but my sister, who mistakenly entered over 200 contacts as "phone," can't sync hers. So, she relies on Lookout.

But if she does that through the PC, she'll have 200 duplicate contacts. I did that once and had numerous duplicates, which were a pain in the ass. She's best to edit them, but that will take a long, tedious time.

Thanks for the suggestion pat. I've had some issues in the past with backup apps. Some of my contacts actually got deleted and duplicated :(.

How long have you been using My Backup?

I did some research and found this new app coming out. Maybe it will be an answer to my issues. meetdextr.com

Not much info on Dextr yet. Even the name makes me a little nervous. I'm just assuming you can import your existing contacts to it.

I've been using My Backup Pro for about a year. Like you said though, when I did a factory reset, I did end up with some duplicates because when Google restored them, some were missing, probably because when I added them, I saved them to phone instead of Google. So I restored from My Backup to get the ones not in google and ended up with duplicates, but at least I got all of them back. I just went to google on my computer, opened contacts and deleted the duplicates. As long as you remember to save them as Google and not phone, Google works fine. I just don't always remember if I'm in a hurry. You can get them all changed to google, but you have to jump through several hoops to do it.

Anyway, My Backup has worked great for me the 4 times I've ended up doing a factory reset and you can just choose what data you want to back up if you don't want to back up all of it. Like I said, I tend to backup my backups.

I just discovered that My Backup no longer duplicates the contacts. I had to do a factory reset and when it came to the contacts, it deleted what was on the phone before it restored the backup contacts instead of duplicating them. It also puts your phone back the way it was before the reset with all of your apps where you had them before the reset.

blkbeltkid17, what the heck are you doing to your phone that you have to reset it once a week?

Any great contact backup apps? I'm looking for something that I can trust.

From your home screen press menu -> settings -> accounts and sync -> google -> ensure contacts is checked.... BAM all of you contacts are backed up to Gmail. Already built into Android, no need to download an app. Anytime you add a new contact it will automatically back up as long as that stays checked and background data is enabled.

One of my new favorites is Tapatalk. Android Forums support is back, plus my other forums (XDA and Rootzwiki). Makes reading and posting in all of my favorite forums much easier to have them all in one spot.

I am aware that I created this application but I do find Message Delayer to be very useful, hence why I created it in the first place. I use it to remind myself to do things as text messages have a higher importance to me than calender reminders so I pay more attention to them.

Other than that Flashlight is my favourite, I use it all the time when navigating my cluttered room at night going from the light switch to bed.

Ok, haven't been here in awhile. I have two more apps that I use that really make my life easier. ( I have many more.) MoneyWise Pro for budgeting and bank acct. transactions and GrocerySmart for sync list with my wife when we go shopping.

I have been looking for an app on either android or iPad (me and my daughter each have both) that we can use to track allowance.

I would like to be able to update it from my device and I would like my daughter to be able to see her earned allowance on her device. Does anyone know of an app that can do this?

No app, but couldn't you use buxfer (buxfer.com) to do this? Every time she did something you would enter it as money you owed her. When you paid it out, you could enter it in as a settlement.
