Favorite apps for HUAWEI ASCEND users!

What's your favorite App from the Market? Also, it would be nice to tell us why! :)

Launcher Pro- must have, best alternate launcher (imo)
Handcent SMS- must have, best alt messaging (imo)
Dolphin Browser HD- really cool, best browser (imo)
Youtube Remote- Best youtube app... period, check it out
Facebook for Android- best facebook app
Gmail- must have
AppBrain- good, helps to find new poupular apps
Mp3 Music Download- the best for music lovers, it had every old and new song ive searched so far!
TuneIn Radio- had this since day 1, never tried pandora cause i love this one
SmartTaskbar- must have, VERY handy check it out
Vaulty- hides pics and vids from nosy people
App Lock- locks apps, i lock my facebook gmail and contacts from nosy people
Caller ID Faker- really fun, use responsibly though lol
Live Holdem Pro- i love poker and this is live with other android users
Sound Hound- Really useful
Doldol- crops pics vertically for custom wallpapers that actually fit my screen
Manga Reader- so i can read my comics
Google- Maps, Sky, Goggles, Translator- all useful
Discount Calculator- really handy instead of working out the math with a regular calc
Wheres My Droid- good if you lose your phone sometimes like i do lol
and
Boot animations installer w/ Androot file- Changed my boot animation and sound quick and easy, now when my phone starts up it says Droooiidd and shows the silver droid eye or whatever... its pretty cool:cool:

and the best part is that theyre all free!:D

I know without wifi my youtube takes days. X.x It is always hard to load some of my apps, Yet Pandora works fine. Isn't that a super heavy data usage application? Just wonder why it is one of the few that doesn't lag on my 1x.

Mine are:

GO Launcher EX - changed my phone dramatically
GO SMS - Used to have Handcent but like this better
Power Amp - Great for music and also helps the inferior sound of the Ascend
Cache Mate - terrific for clearing your cache
Keypurr - It's much, much better than the stock keyboard! Nice voice feature too!
Titanium Backup - Must have if you're rooted!

Trade Keypurr for Better Keyboard and you've pretty much got the ones I use on a regular basis. I really like Last.fm on the home PC but I'm not really thinking I want to pay a monthly subscription to use it on a phone. I like AdFree a lot too. I use Facebook for Android at least once a day.
 
i am on metro. i only use wifi when i use my phone for anything except for talking and texting, as im spoiled to high speeds. when i use tubemate on wifi, it screams, it litterally takes ( and i counted just now, and this is after you wonderfull people helping me root/rom/clock my ascend ) it takes about 10 seconds to download the entire video. i might have not been to clear but you must have the youtube app and also the tube mate app, i downloaded tube mate and deleted the youtube app on my optimus M and it runs without it but im thinking that the ascend needs it, havent tried becuase to download youtube is a beautifull thing and i would not want to mess it up for anything. if anybody would like help or advice on using or making sure you have the correct tube mate just leave some comments below, jazz ur awesome no im not trying to take your job/awesome hobby by offering help for tube mate, if you want i can teach you everything ive figured out about it so you can take your helping gift and mix it together to help everybody use it. and its odd to hear people have trouble using youtube or watching them. i would recommend using wifi to watch videos. the tube mate WILL download them without wifi just takes a few mins as apposed to a few seconds to half a min. and this also works with icarus mod. hope this helps any =)
 
about pandora. used to use it all of the time. like with youtube, its only good with wifi for my, not sure how it is on everybody elses phones. im starting to wonder if all the phones are 1 offs, meaning that no 2 phones are exactly the same lol. pandora with no wifi just takes too long. i used to plug my phone into car radio and ride to store. i would hit play when i was pulling out of drive way, and by time i made it to store, it would finally start to play, then i would have to leave it running to hear it on the way back. removed it after finding out that without wifi it would always be like that. still a pandora fan though on the desktop computer, cant go wrong there.
 
Bc- great app. Mostly self explanatory too. But it doesn't make a true .mp3, it just saves the file as yadayadayada.mp3 instead of yadayadayay.mp4

Honestly, It moves faster for me. Plus it's got a lot of customization options suck as changing the photo not only for wallpaper but, For the app drawer (Menu). You could even change the dock photo to something different too! Plus you can change your options to either vertical or horizontal scrolling in the menu. It shows in the menu All, Recent, and Running applications. This makes it easy to keep track of what you are doing, what you were doing and what you are going to do! You get to change your dock applications plus you can even change their icons! Fun thing I've found out is that if you download more than one theme for this type of launcher, You can use them interchangeably (Like use the icons from one, The app drawer for the other, etc). It's just really a fun way to learn your phone and make it your own! So much to do! XD I <3 it.

P.S I don't know if I responded to that comment already, I just noticed it though. Darn phones got me under the "Influence" LOL.
 
yeah all it does is cut out the video part and name it mp3 instead of mp4. it somewhat makes it an mp3 though becuase ive saved one of the mp3s as a ringtone ( PRIOR TO FLASHING TO ICARUS MOD! AFTER ICARUS MOD I CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO HAVE AN MP3 AS RINGTONE havent had enough time to figure that one out lol ) but yes tubemate is a must have for me =) if anybody is having troubles watching youtube videos i would recommend using tube mate as you can watch and download and if you cant watch it downloads faster then it would take to buffer half of the video, so you figure, if you have a wifi connection, and you have tube mate, you can download a video just to watch it even if its not one you want to save becuase with wifi u get the vid in like 10 seconds. thats not even a quarter of buffer time, so by time you buffer 1 video to watch it, you can probably download 10 or more videos. so to download and delete is wayy faster. another thing, some videos are vevo and when you click on the video play button and it tells you that you cannot view the video from a cell phone, dont get discouraged and think that it wont download it either, simply press menu button and it will show an option to download it anyways. awesome app love it.
 
I used to use iVideo for this, but it's out of date and the dev seems gone.

Open the stock music player and pause the song you want as a ringtone. Then use the hardware "menu" key and choose "use as ringtone".

As far as notification ringtones, I still haven't figured out how to do that without using another app (which I haven't tried either).
 
That's exactly what i do.
I just dl'ed ten Vids and dumped three in about ten minutes over a fairly weak "borrowed" wifi signal.
Works on my. Brothers optimistic too. Btw
 
no prob on the writeup. and yes thank you early. i had placed the videos on my sd to computer before the flash becuase 1 of the steps of flashing mod was to wipe sd card. i had about 40 downloaded music vids and a bunch more songs and i got them back onto the phone and they work from the sd card and the videos play, but when i open up the musicplayer it doesnt show any of the songs or videos, so im thinking that when i place/make the folders that you suggested that it will work. thanks for the idea cant believe i never thought of that one myself! awesomes!!

For some reason unknown, It sounded fuzzy and unclear on my phone. Compared with my stock music player and Pandora especially. I guess I sort of found this app kind of useless as well since it really only worked properly with my local radio stations. Which I get very sick of to be honest. LOL. I'm just more into listening to my own hand picked songs, Or Pandora picked songs, Than I am the radio. If you like the radio a lot though, This app is alright. Outside of the sound quality that is.

It can be a nice app for those of us who want to listen to sports radio or our state's sports games.

Those that enjoy politics might get some use out of it as well.
 
I'm looking for a replacement keyboard to use instead of the stock Ascend keyboard. I would like to try a few free ones out first, and am looking for suggestions. I'd like to get answers and reviews from Ascend owners only, which is why I posted this in here. (Hope that is ok)

I would like to know which keyboard you suggest, and why do you like this particular keyboard over the stock Ascend keyboard?

Had the trial version of better keyboard 7.
Predictive text was efficient and keys slightly bigger than stock but it wont let you turn off the ticking sound. :(

Using swype now, which I hate by the way, because I am too lazy to search the market for a free keyboard myself.

Been using Better Keyboard 8 almost since day one and love it. I like that you have the numbers and punctuation marks right there simply by holding the keys down.
