Ive been running CM7 for a few weeks now, and have never had an issue with the camera, until now..... it keeps force closing.... i havent tried a backup point as of yet, but just curious as to what in the eff would cause that :(

update: tried a restore to a point where i know my cam was working.... no dice... i cant imagine life w/o a camera on my phone!! and i just love CM7!! i call upon the limitless power of the forum to lend a hand, or some brainpower:) LoL

Definitely give what evom suggested and if no dice, try flashing a different kernel.

I too have this issue. It's recurred twice. I've tried everything, including going back to known good backups. If I go back to a sense rom, it works, but going back to a CM7 rom, it shows the same issue. Even flashing a new kernel doesn't appear to help. I originally thought it might have something to do with free space, but this doesn't appear to be an issue. I had the original issue with RC2. This new issue is with RC3.

The only way I found around it was to use Titanium Backup to nuke the original camera app (Although I haven't found a simple way to get it back... since Titanium backup only backs up the data for the camera). I then flashed a clean ROM (RC2) again and the camera worked again.

Why didn't you just wipe data in titanium then?

Wiping the data in Titanium was the first thing I tried. It didn't work.

I've tried a few different roms since then, including miui, and the camera has been fine. Recently switched back to CM7.1 and about two weeks in and the camera fc is back.
