Fed Ex lost my HTC Incredible

Well, no happy ending for me. I called Verizon again today because I realized I didn't have a tracking number for the new package. The rep I spoke with this morning said, "There is no way Jay could have promised you a phone that is not available." I couldn't believe it. No notes in my account indicating a phone would be delivered today. Only notes in account said a new order was submitted for late August delivery.

So, I'm back to getting a refund. The Verizon rep said the initial refund request was never canceled. So, that is still in their system. I told her I didn't care because I was going to get my credit card company to file a fraud claim against them.

I called my credit card company and they are giving me a credit for the amount of the phone and will notify Verizon of the dispute. So, at least I have my money back now.

Just so tired of being lied to by all of the people I spoke with. This ordeal started bad then I thought it was resolved only to have the rug pulled from underneath me. I'm sick.

I have been following this thread from the beginning, and I'm really sorry for what you've had to go through. What Verizon has done is inexcusable! I have always been satisfied in my over ten years with them, but it sure shows me what they're capable of!

You have exhibited great self-control through all of this!

That just totally sucks. Why can't they just stick a phone on a truck? Is it really that hard?

So are you going to go with another carrier?

Now, I'm back to just staying with AT&T and my crappy Nokia flip-phone. I really hate this phone. I wanted a cool phone, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'm a firm believer in things happening for a reason. This must have not been the phone for me.

I will continue to research other phones as they come out. I just feel like I put a lot of effort into choosing the DINC for it to all wind up like this. I researched a lot of phones. Now, it was all for nothing.

A woman I work with showed me some Samsung phone she's getting. Don't remember the name of the phone or the carrier. I already know none of the phones AT&T are offering appeal to me.

That is bull*&$%! You are way too nice...I think I would have exploded on them and asked to speak to everyone's boss! Where is a verizon employee on a forum when you need one????

Yeah...at this point a 30 minute tirade through Verizon wireless is definitely called for. Hell, a flaming bag of dog S#$% wouldn't be out of line.

Once again, thanks for everyone's support through this nonsense. I'm imposing a ban on myself from this thread. It only makes me angrier. Hopefully, I'll be back someday and I'll let you know what phone I decided on. I do know that I want an Android phone. I will never own an Apple phone.

Good luck pal, sorry for all the crap you went through

Joefrog, your situation really, really sucks. I have had terrible luck with verizon's customer service in the past, but have stuck with them because my neighborhood/street does not get any reception with AT&T (my town in general gets good reception with them, but none at my house and it is my main phone) so verizon is my only option. They are a great company unless something goes wrong and you need help, which is pretty obvious to you. It is good you got the refund through your credit card, and despite the stress and wanting to, its good you didn't flatten the neighbor's tires or do anything you would regret. They deserve it, but its just a phone and you don't want to deal with anymore problems. I do find it curious that Jay promised the phone, you told his supervisor the situation, AND it still didn't get shipped.

I hope you find a new smartphone you like. The Incredible is great, but Android is starting to explode and am sure there will be some great options on AT&T in the near future. Good luck with everything and for sharing your story.

EDIT: Just for some insight. In college a couple years ago I worked in customer service for a computer company. If you were the rep that by chance had to issue a lot of replacements or parts for customers that day/week/month because the people calling you needed replacements and there were no other options (or had to do anything that cost the company money really), you were looked down upon or let go. Horrible job because the people calling you hate you, and your bosses hate you because in order to help the customer, you have to do something that you are supposed to do in your job description, but could also get you fired by your superiors since it costs the company money. Sounds like verizon is the same way. The reps you spoke with might have felt like "well, his situation wasn't my fault, im not taking the hit for this, someone else will eventually". I am just speculating, though it fits my experience.

Dude! No freaking way! That really, really sucks! I'm so sorry man, I know it's gotta be a horrible situation... I know it's not out of line to be upset with the companies in question, but I hate your neighbors more and more, if it wasn't for their lack of consideration, this wouldn't be happening....

Guess what showed up in my email box on Sunday. A shipment verification from Verizon. It said a phone was shipped out on 7/18 with a delivery date of 7/20.

My wife just sent me a text that the phone has been delivered. So, now I have to call the credit card company back to let them know I received the phone. I was just about to use that money too. Oh well, alls well that ends well I guess.

I told my wife to start charging the phone now. I guess I need to contact Verizon too to start the port over from AT&T again. I wonder how long that will take now that I have to start from scratch again.

I'll have to research various cases now because I'm probably going to upgrade the battery like most people have. I had a case picked out before I realized I would have to upgrade to a bigger battery.

I'm really happy and relieved for you to see that you FINALLY got your phone. At the same time, however, I think that a year of free service for this debacle would be justified compensation. :)

You know, it can't hurt to ask for some kind of compensation. I have a feeling they would tell me that just getting it sooner than a month later is my compensation. :p

Wow, Joe! They really took you for a spin!

I'd give the stock battery a shot first before you go buying new cases, back covers, and batteries. I can get through the day with a full charge overnight to bedtime, with just casual web browsing, mostly text messaging, limited phone calls... but if I do need a boost I have access to a charger in the car and at the office.

Glad you FINALLY got your phone. Start looking for some apps to put on that baby.

I don't know about a year, but he can probably squeeze a free month out of them.

It is interesting that this started out with FedEx completely at fault, but by the end of this story Verizon still holds the Championship belt for ****ing up.

I bet they'll give you $25 and 150 free minutes. Maybe $25 more. You have to be talking to the right person to get more than that.

Glad you have the phone. I can speak from experience that all the run-around and bullcrap from VZW is actually worth it for this phone.

To me, it sounds like FedEx is really the party to blame here and not Verizon. From my understanding, Verizon sent the phone out just like they do for every phone they send out. Once FedEx has it, it's out of Verizon's control. I'd send a letter to FedEx demanding some form of compensation, whether it's a check for some monetary amount or an account credit for free shipping to be used at your convenience in the future...whatever you think is reasonable. Even though you did end up with the product that you purchased, the time that you had to wait for it was substantially and unreasonably increased because of a failure on the part of FedEx, not to mention the undue stress that it caused you. There is definitely a tort there.

While Verizon handled the situation poorly after the fact this is 100% FedEx's fault for an improper delivery. They handled it poorly and really screwed you out of time with your DINC. I can see Verizon being hesitant because for all they know it's someone saying they never received a phone and they have the FedEx confirmation of delivery (even if wrong).

Now that being said I would still escalate this to customer retention. They actually have some power when it comes to adjusting bills or taking care of issues. The fact that you were "lied to" by VZW employees or they did not follow through on promised actions is inexcusable. Good luck and glad you got your device.

About time. Enjoy your phone! (you will :) )

As far as cases, I'm using a cheap VZW silcone case until Otterbox releases their's (but if I come across something similar I might go with that.

And depending on what your time/hassle is worth it, definitely try and get credit for all this hassle.

I feel like an idiot, but I couldn't figure out how to delete this post, so I just edited it.
You can't delete it. Just edit it to say something like, "deleted post" and be done with it.

Joe.. nice persistence and calmness dealing with this. At this point I would just activate the phone, download some apps, and basically learn the OS. Then in a few weeks you can either give Fedex or VZW a call for possible compensation. Then if you get it great and if not who the **** cares. You have a great phone now and one which I have said might very well be the last phone I will need for some time to come. Congrats.. have fun.
