Help firmware I7500XEFJB2

I'm seeing lots of people that can't upgrade to Gmaps 4.
Was hoping maybe for an .apk package, but its no where to be found.
We need to resolve this problem :(

starting its nt workin well but after removing it once and again updating it works fine....maybe it just needs some time

I know that CSC file is country based, don't know WHY would i want to remove any of those.

I'm confused about this reason too. I've searched the site and haven't found any reason to remove the csc. Like, pro's and con's of keeping or removing the csc. Any vets on this site able to comment?

For example, the new JB6 firmware is official and from France. If you do not remove the csc (cache.img) from the tar your phone will now be "preloaded" with random presets from Bouygues Telecom (the French carrier), such as apps in the tray which cannot be uninstalled from the phone or bookmarks in the browser. Nothing critical, but most people find these annoying and unnecessary, especially if you are not using that carrier.

Ho-hum. I've just downgraded to v1.5 again (IL3). The JB2 build is excruciatingly slow (3+ seconds to open the Settings from the home screen ; worse when switching between apps) and eats battery like you wouldn't believe (60% in 4 hours, with literally nothing running).

1.6, see you later. Hello again, fast and stable 1.5.

yeah im back down to 1.5 again too (K4)

didnt like all the bugs in 1.6 ... stupid samsung

oh well samsung did one good thing for me

they pushed me and now i have ordered a Nexus one, hello 2.1 goodness

's funny.

I've had no problems at all thus far with 1.6. It's been fast and stable for me. Battery life isn't great, but I've not given it a proper test really and have been caning the GPS fairly heavily.

One thing I've noticed Donut has fixed is the bluetooth address book. Pairing the phone with my car under 1.5, I got a list of phone numbers displayed in its address book. Under 1.6, I now get a proper list of names, which is great as it's bugged me for months.

Seems they've finally fixed the lock screen too.

The fact that no one is talking about this makes me think that not everyone is having the same experience, and that perhaps this is related to the no sleep issue.

Dunno. Could even be a setting somewhere.

On 1.5, getting the unlock screen was a lottery, took several presses sometimes and it'd sometimes get confused about showing the PIN pad or the welcome screen.

On 1.6, the welcome screen's gone. The PIN pad is amazingly responsive, it works how it always should have.

I'm willing to concede that this could be nothing to do with the firmware; maybe the welcome screen displays when you've got owner information keyed into it and not otherwise or something, and the factory reset has wiped that data and got rid of the splash screen. In all honesty though, I don't care, it's tons better.

Hi im new and i have baseband version I7500XXJB2
Firmware version 1.6
Kernel version 2.6.29 root@sep-53 #1

Is my phone version same as I7500XEFJB2 or is it older, should i flash this firmware?

Come on it's an unofficial version, of course there's going to be some bugs. I'm just glad Samsung are still working on this phone and releasing updates. Give it a little time and there will be a stable and official version released.

That said the lack of official word has left me frustrated and very tempted to get something else myself. But the lack of anything obviously better (Nexus seems to have too many niggles) will keep me holding off for a bit longer. And hey if we have 2.1 by the summer I guess I'll be content with this phone til next year.

Actually, if we get the nexus menu instead of the ugly drawer, I'd be happy enough.
Or better yet, some variation of TAThome.

My proximity sensor is working just fine....
It was reported number of times on this forum that that problem with proximity sensor may be due to dust on sensors. I had the same problem for long time, resolved by blowing some air on sensors through speaker mesh from compressed gas duster can. I hope it solves your problem too.

Strangely with 1.6 my proximity sensor problems have disappeared. I had all the same issues as everyone else with 1.5 and nothing I did would work. Since 1.6 upgrade the sensor has acted perfectly for me.. Probably a coincidence but it is one of the reasons I am NOT considering rollback to 1.5

Ahah! I confess I was a little skeptic while blowing to the speaker but the fact is that it worked! :D Thanks, bro!

the unlock button seems to be working nicely in 1.6. i had a pretty old 1.5 firmware and had to hold the button down for an eternity and then sometimes it wouldn't work.

can't say it seems any faster than 1.5, contrary to some reports. no slower though.

i'm pleased to be out of the wilderness of 1.5, but 1.6 is a little underwhelming. should stop be from getting too angry with samsung for a few months maybe :)

Is there something unused that can be deleted from /system partition? The whole partition has only ~1.23 MB free with this firmware.

Hi

I was on IK4 and now I’m on JB2. Anybody knows what’s the main different between them? I’m not exciting with 1.6 because the changes I was detected by now are:

  • Not widgets Clock
  • Not Samsumg keyboard
  • New widget call Power Center
  • Different visualization of Market (not new)
  • Some task are slowly than before (add a widget to desktop)
  • 3D is a little quickly than before

Bluetooth continue failing like versions before (don’t work)
Battery life is similar

Anybody can say something really positive of the new version versus before versions?

Regards
