Help firmware I7500XEFJB2

Got SetCPU and AutoKills on JB2, it works like a charm. Turning off the 'retrieving of location from wireless networks' and 'share location with google' has solved the 100% running problem for me, so I'm definitely not looking back to K4 or L3

1. No. Leaked. said to be official in France
2. Yes. Be sure to remove CSC
3. Yes. using Drakaz recovery
4. Yes. Just flash old firmware same way you do 1.6
5. No. Not as far as ive seen
6. Not necessary to connect to PC Suite but it is to use USB connection to PC
7. Not sure the go there. Did you mount drives on ur phone?? Maybe a drivers issue
8. http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/13692-how-odin-galexo-rom-s.html

and firmware is http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/47548-firmware-i7500xefjb2.html

If you've installed NPS on your PC then you should have the required drivers.

Once you've connected your phone via USB you need to pull down the notification bar on your phone and mount the drives.

drivers are usually installed when installing New PC Suite.

pc suite itself doesnt work properly but installing it should put all necessary drivers, Provided install installs completely without error

What windows you got?

Wow just finished reading all of this. I am amazed that right around when I get my phone this comes out =D Anyways I won't be upgrading to this as I don't think it will be that useful for me. I am really waiting for 2.1. That will be awesome. Anyways good luck to everyone with this.

You can get it all working without NPS as I never installed it on Win7 and everything works. In the mass storage mode it was simple plug and play, while debugging mode required the ADB drivers from either this forum or SDK.

I am really waiting for 2.1.

You will be waiting for a while... as it is almost certain that Samsung will not be officially releasing 2.x for i7500.

Once Samsung releases source code for the 1.6, at least 2.0 will be unofficially supported.

Is 2.1 using the same kernel (2.6.29) as 1.6 and 2.0?

As I asked that question I started looking around for the answer myself. Multiple sources report that 1.6 is based on 2.6.27 kernel and not .29. Only 2.0 and 2.1 are meant to be .29 based.

However, Samsung did release 1.6 using .29 kernel as we found out from the JB2 firmware. Why use .29 kernel and only give us 1.6?

At least there is glimpse of hope that once .29 kernel source is released, with all the drivers primed for 2.x, Drakaz and Musty will have a fully functional 2.1 firmware for us! :D

?
i thought 1.6 was 29. 27 was cupcake

yeah, i stand corrected. Wikipedia has 1.6 as 27, hence few other sources too. ... cant always trust Wiki! :(

The android developers website is obviously stating the truth... "Android 1.6 upgrades the Linux kernel from 2.6.27 to 2.6.29."

the unlock button seems to be working nicely in 1.6. i had a pretty old 1.5 firmware and had to hold the button down for an eternity and then sometimes it wouldn't work.

This (1.6) is the first firmware where I've seen the lock button working as it should. I'll be interested to see if my hang up problems have also been fixed. Time will tell!

2.x and maybe 1.6 saves your settings online (if you choose to let it). The new market will also auto-install you're apps again after a factory reset! I'm not sure if it will work from 1.5 -> 1.6 upgrade, but the next time you factory reset it should remember your apps and reinstall.

How do you "choose to let it"? Has anyone had success with market auto-installs after 1.6 factory resets?

Ho-hum. I've just downgraded to v1.5 again (IL3). The JB2 build is excruciatingly slow (3+ seconds to open the Settings from the home screen ; worse when switching between apps) and eats battery like you wouldn't believe (60% in 4 hours, with literally nothing running).

1.6, see you later. Hello again, fast and stable 1.5.

this is pretty weird since now that im using galaxo 1.6.1 everything works great. after almost 20 hours of use im at 68%.

I find this weird too. With 1.5 some button presses would lag slightly so they were noticable but certainly usable. With 1.6 JB2 everything is super fast and responsive with the exception that the boot takes maybe an extra 10 seconds.

I love JB2 and would marry it and have babies if I could fix Voice Search.

Since I've installed 1.6, voice functions are much better, but phone become little laggy, like KlaymenDK said.

Sometimes it takes 3-4s to open handcent or gmail app. With 1.5, it was less than 1s.

I'm using Galaxo 1.6.1 for 2 days now and I think it is a huge improvement compared to the 1.5 firmwares. Touchscreen is much more responsive, battery endurance is better, more apps are supported and overall responsiveness has improved.

Does any of you by change have tested if Wifi Tether is working with this new firmware? See: android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

take the battery out and following sticky FAQs put your phone into recovery mode and do recovery as suggested after that the phone will delete all data (will go to factory default settings) and will boot as normal
