Root first time rooting/flashing - issues - cool kingdom v6

Did anyone have any problems installing the Evolutionary Sense ROM?

I have installed it but nothing is working on it. Firstly during the setup page when i need to enter my Google account details, i click in the text box and the keyboard Force Closes. So i skipped that process and got into the main interface and when i click on 'Settings' it says "The linked program is no longer installed on your phone"..

I have tried re-installing the ROM a couple of times and its still doing the exact same thing. ...I have partitioned the SD card with 1gb ext3....I full wiped phone before installing ROM ...

I have looked over at the RcMix Tutorial and it mentions that the device would reboot 3 times, but my phone doesnt do that, it doesnt reboot at all! It goes through all that 'Firing Up...' and i then have to unlock it with the trackpad to get it to get to the 'Setup' process. I thought i downloaded a corrupt ROM so i downloaded a new one but i still get the same situation.

Any ideas????

Luckily i made a Nandroid backup so at least my phone is usable again :)

I downloaded that version you have there. I used the one you posted earlier, then i went onto the xda website and downloaded it again.

I wiped data, cache and Dalvik

In that case, I'm at a bit of a loss to explain what happened.

All I can suggest is you wipe/factory reset from recovery, wipe Dalvik and try flashing the rom again.

:)

Tried that... many times. I even wiped in recovery, rebooted, went back into recovery and then flash.Still the same

Thanks for helping!

I'm on stock. This was my first attempt at rooting and flashing a new ROM.
The rooting process went so well I thought it would be easy to flash the ROM.....I was sooo wrong! Haha.

Nope I'm S-On.

Is it worth it going S-Off?

I copy this from rcmix guid faq..take a look and decide :)

"TO USE CM7/++ HBOOTS U MUST BE S-0FF

What HBOOT/ROM version do I need?

CM7 hboot can only be used with cm7/++ ONLY.
# Cm7/++ Hboot has 130 mb for system 5 mb for cache & 302 mb for data which in short means u get more space on internal memory and can sometime inprove the device

#Cm7/++ advantage version that dalvik and the rest of OS are running from nand, hence good ROM speed. cache / data can be moved manually with command in POST 2

Stock HBOOT can be used with both a2sd and x-a2sd(you HAVE to be s o-ff to use x-a2sd) versions.

# Bravo stock Hboot has 250mb for system 40mb for cache & 147mb for data which in short term means u get less space on internal memory and can sometime slow the device down

# a2sd Disadvantage: dalvik moved to sd-ext, hence user can experience some lag.
# a2sd Advantage: no need to s-off, straight flash.

# x-a2sd Disadvantage: HAVE to be s-off
# x-a2ssd Advantage: dalvik can be moved back to internal memory and you will still have reasonable amount of memory space left."

and cm7 version is more smooth and faster than stock hboot version

Cool, thanks for that. I'll give that a go and I'll see what happens

Are you using the cm7 version of this ROM?

Just to clarify incase you're wondering, dont use the CM7 version on the bravo stock hboot or vice versa

All sorted and working! :)

I decided to have one more bash at it so i started from the very beginning and put my SD card in my PC and loaded GParted...and there it was.. the ext3 partition i had created before was gone!! So i created the partition again, and flashed. It all now works! Keyboard, Settings etc all work.

Thanks for all your advice guys.
