after following all the directions perfectly each time. and after i hit the reboot i never got past the M logo. did it like 5 times and all it did was sit at the moto logo for 20 mins each time. restored back to fly x
Thanks to you both for this!
I tried it out tonight, but it was just not for me. I felt the 3G and wifi icons looked a bit twonky, plus I started to get some strange ghosting with apps. (They would stay drawn on the screen after I exited the app). Also when trying to use the Android Keyboard, it consistently forced closed. A reboot did not fix this, so I did a restore from a backup I did yesterday and all is fine.
As for this ROM, a few things I noticed.
1. Going into Google Maps generates a message "Login Failed." message. Maps appear to sync fine to my location though.
2. I had a problem making a call today with bluetooth dialing in my car. A reboot fixed it.
3. Android Market seems to say "Loading" for awhile before anything appears. Both on 3G and Wifi
4. Volume appears to be a bit lower. (I have no way of testing this definitively) It just seems lower both in talking on the phone, and the external speaker.
5. One soft reboot today when going to unlock the slider (I was listening to a podcast at the time).
On a positive note, this ROM flies! Its faster than Apex (though I had none of the above mentioned issues with Apex). I did not SBF prior to installing, so maybe I should have? I followed the directions on their website to a "T" however.
If anyone has any thoughts or has experienced this as well, would appreciate some feedback. I will keep running this though until I have a strong reason to try something else or go back to Apex.
P.S. Is there overclocking in this ROM?
EDIT: Is there any way to get just a black status bar with this ROM and nothing else? Also, what about black sms background? Or do I have to try out Handcent and/or Chomp SMS?
Thanks again folks!

1. try joining latitude from within maps and allow access when prompted then back out. this solved it for me.
2. No BT issue here but i dont use it much.
3. mine seems about the same as other roms. not bad
4. my volume is about the same
5. no reboots from me yet
6. the blackout theme has a black messaging app. you can try pulling it from the theme and pushing it to the phone
Are you trying to install on a clean base that has not had anything installed on it yet?
Thanks for the replies Tom. I don't know how to pull the messaging app from the theme, but not sure I want too. I don't use swype and the android keyboard kept fc.
If by clean base you mean sbf then no. If by clean base following Team Defuse's instructions, then yes. I did wipe data and cache. Mounted system during install and did two factory resets prior to installing all my apps back manually.
Ive also noticed my battery life is not as good as Apex so far.

See the attached file for the mms.apk from the blackout theme.
And yeah by clean base we mean you should either be coming from an SBF or stock OEM. And I applied the stock speed + ULV (the first oc file) and my battery life is great. You might want to try that.
By clean base I just mean a starting point (via SBF or update) that has not had anything installed over it yet. I have a backup (SBF) that is just rooted, with nothing else installed, that I use to install ROM with. I've yet to have any issues with Rubix, Apex, Fission or Dark Slide.
I did not sbf but I did wipe data and cache. I came from Apex and just did that. Two factory resets as well. So basically, this is not considered clean I guess? But I did not start with a stock install (with Blur etc) but I did before I installed Apex.
So guess I have to sbf, wipe data and cache, install Fission, and then factory reset. Does this sound right?
Thanks.

What I do is make a backup just after the point of root and install bootstrap and clockwork ...that way when I install a new Rom I go restore it and I have a clean base...I do this with all Rom and since doing so have not had a problem......knock on wood!....and yes if I were you I would sbf and follow instructions to a t
doing a full factory reset should be fine if you were already on the 2.2 OTA or 2.2 SBF. the only reason you should need to SBF is to make sure you have all the updated kernal, system, radio and drivers. but an sbf will never hurt. just make sure to do a factory reset before or after it.![]()
Ok will try to do an sbf asap.
I was already on the 2.2 OTA. I've never done an SBF yet. Mainly because I run Windows 7 x64 and read that there are problems. However maybe I can use the guide posted here if I run into any snags. Thanks again Tom.![]()
no problem. When you get this rom set the way you want, it is pure bliss.

Ok now for the stupid question of the day. Can I just install the mms apk from Astro File Manager. Or do I have to push it via adb etc? Also, do you know if this includes the android keyboard from this theme? If so, I may pass, due to force closing.
Also, I just applied the OC like you said. Mine says the file name is 1000_56. Is this correct and what you installed?
Thanks again brother!
Fission 2.2.1 is done and people who donated and/or help test will be emailed the links in a couple of hours. You do not need to donate to get 2.2.1, just to clear up the confusion. People who donated get it first, my way of giving back to them. Also this helps find any last minute bugs that may pop up and it is easier to fix with a small amount of users than a mass release on the forums. People who donated also get any future apps that will appear on market for free and direct email if you need any help.
I'm on Windows 7 x64, RSDLite and the SBF works fine for me. My computer at work is on Windows Vista and I usually have problems with RSDLite and ADB on it. I keep my laptop in the car just for that reason.
you can just put this on your sd card open up ROM manager and move it to system/app. then install it from your phone. And this isn't a keyboard it is just the app. To get a KB you would need to install it from the fission add on folder.
And yeah 1000_56 is what I'm currently running. it's awesome.
Good to know, thank you.
Thanks for letting me know. Funny you mentioned ROM Manager. I just installed this yesterday on my phone, and not sure how to do what you said. If you could let me know I will give it a shot.
Thanks again!
I dunno what I was thinking I ment root explorer. Wow I really shouldn't skip my coffee in the morning.
That sounds better. I only used Root Explorer once though. Sorry to be a pain, but what are the steps?
If its easy I will just figure it out or Google it. Thanks again for all of your help!!
