Flagship Device?

the reason apps do not work is because the developers havent updated their code to work with ICS

the GNex is not a flagship phone on vzw

it is a google flagship phone

currently 2 devices can contend for vzw flagship
moto razr (not maxx)
iphone4s

I think I would have to go with RAZR. Just like the Nexus is Google's flagship and not VZWs, I think the iPhone 4S is the same for Apple as opposed to VZW. The RAZR is VZW's cash cow, they make by FAR the most money on that phone with all the bloatware, and data plans.

My G'Nex is runnin fine. Never had an issue with any streaming app. Signal is fine, never dropped a call or data anywhere that my tbolt didn't. Only bummer is the battery, and its not serious. Bought a wallcharger/spare battery combo from VZW and now i'm set!

I have no dropped calls, signal is same as my former droid razr was. Only issue i have is the rebooting but it has got better it stayed on 60 hours so getting better.

I am sure this has been said already but i will say it again.

1. this is NOT a flagship device....not in the least. i have not seen a single commercial for this phone from Verizon. the Razr and Razr MAXX are the flagship devices on BIG RED

2. this is the ONLY (OK a hadful of nexus S' had it pushed as well) phone out there running android 4.0. it is going to take a while for apps to update. it is not the phones fault...it is the app makers fault.

3. the "next best thing" is always going to come with some problems. I for one would take the trade off any day. especially since i have pretty much ZERO issues with the apps i use.

Perhaps I haven't been clear. I realize this is not VERIZON's flagship device, but it is GOOGLE's flagship device. While Big Red is a carrier, Google is the software producer. Google needs to drive app development getting things ready to showcase their device. I saw it with Netflix not being ready for far too long on my Dinc and on the Xoom. It's time for Google to realize that coming to market with a group of "PRIME TIME READY" apps would be advantageous at the time of launch of a new OS and especially their highly anticipated new flagship. You can not deny that the Galaxy Nexus is Google's Flagship nor can you deny that their was ample buzz about it prior to launch.

I'm not Gnex bashing. I love my Gnex, but I started this thread to see if anyone else is frustrated that many of the "PRIME" apps are not functioning and they are on older devices. Yea, I understand they've had longer to polish them and get them ready. They are on older devices, it's Google's job to release the OS, it's the app developers job to make the apps work, blah blah blah. When you release a product that works within an ecosystem that apps work on then the new device you release doesn't support those apps, something's wrong somewhere down the line.

but it is still the app developers Jobs to get them ready for the new OS. 90% of the apps out there worked just fine without updates. there are still a few that need to be updated for whatever reason.....google has done their part in providing developers everything they need to get it working.

it is on the app devs....not google.

now maybe i would be frustrated if i used Hulu, or HBO go....but i dont, and the apps i do use, i dont have any issues with...in fact, they run better now than they did on Gingerbread.
