Flappy Bird, anyone played it?

So I've been hearing a lot about this Flappy Bird game and how crazy hard it is, so I checked it out and played it myself. It is quite hard, but I don't get why it's so popular. Can anyone explain it to me? I'm pretty sure I've played some hard games like it. Is it because it's so hard to get a good score?
 
I will admit it is quite an addicting game. I just don't get the popularity. I'm going to try some more of it and see if I can get better at it. Thanks for sharing the article. :)
 
I've tried it out for about 15 minutes today, it's pretty hard. Gave up lol

Kind of has that Mario feel which makes it cool too.
 
Love this game. 36 is my high score at the moment :trytofly:
 
Badland is much better and has similar gameplay and beautiful graphics, plus it was released last year.


This is the problem with Android, the good games get ignored and crud like this somehow gets popular.
 
It's painfully addictive yet so simplistic, and doesn't take up much space (less than 1mb). It's everything a mobile game should be and that's why it's so popular.

It's the same formula as temple run, just allot simpler. :confused:

Anyway I played it for about a minute scored 4 and uninstalled, I just found it really annoying and gave it 1 star.

I can't imagine people keeping this one installed for very long.
 
I keep seeing this game pop up on IGN, and I'm still not sure if they actually like it, or are pointing it out in a joking manner...

Well it's hard to hate something that's free to users but the graphics are straight from Mario, with 50 million downloads the ad revenue must be pretty good, considering the artwork is stolen and the gameplay isn't very original it's done amazingly well.

I can imagine allot of clones of this game will be made. :(
 
I know this isn't a G2 related question, but I wanted to keep it in the family. For those of you that play flappy bird, what's your high score?

I haven't even medalled yet, I'm only at 10.

On-topic, I'm also baffled why the dev would pull the game, particularly if he was pulling in ~$50k/day for an app he spent 2-3 days making. I need to buy a new car soon; he should have left the game available and just sent me the cash instead ;)

It's weird that he couldn't take in the money, then again he probably wasn't making the $50K a day, the company he was working for probably was. Not sure why they'd allow him to take it down.

It sickens me that he would get death threats from some people for not being able to beat the game. This world is full of pathetic people who try to hurt someones feelings because they can't achieve something.

Anyways, it sucks that the game is no longer available. I have it on my phone yet, but for those looking to play it, will have to look for clones.

Oh and there was already a game like it called Helicopter, a very old game.
