Root Flash cm7

Did you flash the MR1 or MR2 version of CM7? If it was the MR2 version did you also flash the MR2 radio or newer? Also check in your wireless and network settings to make sure you are on a setting that can pick up LTE.
 
do you have mobile data enable? sorry,it seems obvious,but hafta ask ;)

try toggling airplane mode for a few seconds,if that doesnt work,try a reboot.

Edit: I have mine set to 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3 -- fixed me right up.

Phones use A-GPS or assisted GPS. They use network location information to help GPS get a lock. So with no wifi whereis and no cell tower info, the A-GPS does not have the extra data it needs for a fast lock. Stand alone GPS devices have a much larger antenna or multiple antennas so they do not need the extra data.

I did that and it still wont work. Should I do a custom setup? When i do opendns it still wont go to 3g or 4g

yes i have all those set to correct setting, and flashed mr2 versions of both.I used the radio you posted above and the link in the thunderbolt rom thread which takes you to mr2 version of cm7.


i'm confused.

Try this...I am confused as well...you are making me scratch my head which I just shaved today so it isn't the best feeling :)

whats mobile data enable? is that the lte on/off app that you can switch to different data speeds?

IF not i'm not sure if i have it.
 
menu softkey/settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks/ make sure "data enabled" has a checkmark.

then long press on a home screen where you can put a 4x1 widget. chose widgets then power control. there are several settings that you can put in the power control widget,select "mobile data" and "3g/4g" for sure. pick wich other ones are important to you. ive also got gps,brightness,bluetooth,and wifi.

this will let you toggle mobile data on and off(not that youd want to leave it off,but sometimes toggling can make it come back)and will let you choose between 3 and 4g.

for now,id turn on 3g,toggle airplane,give it a few min,then reboot if it doesnt come back.

whenever ive had data disapear on roms before,a reboot or airplane toggle almost always brings it back.

sort os sounds like youre maybe just having a handoff issue... for now,toggling to 3g and airplane or reboot hopefully will bring it back.

this used to be an AOSP issue,but ive not had any prollems with it for the last couple RCs

if any of that works,then you can try turning on 4g(assuming youre in a 4g area :eek:) when you get a good,solid green 4g :)
 
ok so i did get 4G to pop on. it apprears my version of lte on/off is messed up. I dont think its a verizon version for some reason. I say that because it doesnt give a LTE option. I deleted that app and 4G came on.

I'm still working on getting 3G to work/toggle but for now atleast i know i can get 4G. I will go with the suggestions above to see if they work.


For the record, when i would go into LTE on/off app it kept going into the "unknown" option for some reason. it was odd. I deleted it, tried to reinstall, and it still messed up. i will find something else.
 
new update...........ok so 4g works for me, not 3g. Not sure why and it makes no sense. when i do the 3g/4g toggle, only 4g works. when i turn on 3g i get nothing.


of course 4g still giving me some trouble. sometimes kicks off and wont kick back on...great.
 
Go to settings -> wireless and networks -> mobile network settings and make sure network mode is CDMA +LTE/EvDo

The LTE on/off app is not needed anymore IMO, you can toggle the same things within settings now, at least on custom roms.

- i deleted the LTE on/off app permanently. I tried it twice and screwed everything up both times so its gone permanently
- i put a 4g/3g widget on my homescreen. 4g works, 3g does not
- i have the cdma+lte/evdo mode on

So it looks like everything is setup properly, have the right radio and rom flashed, yet 3g wont work. its a bit mind boggling. when i try 3g it never comes on, then when switching back to 4g it takes forever to kick back on.....if it ever does.
 
If you go to about phone will you look at the baseband version? It should be 1.46.00.0704w_2, 0.01.76.0703_2r

If it is anything else then you should redownload the radio and try again, You could even try a factory reset in case the LTE on/off app screwed something up that I am missing.

thats bizarre because my baseband version is correct, same as your post.

I will redownload and re-flash now. think i should use the radio version you recommend in this thread? and can i just flash over whats currently installed?

disk mode, delete current radio file off sd
put radio on sd
reboot with CWR, flash in recovery
restart

do i have it right?

No, you have to flash radios in hboot. Long hold power button>reboot>bootloader
 
Yeah, you might want to try the 627 radio which is the official mr2 radio. if your baseband is what I posted then you should not have any problems with it (in theory at least)
 
before you reflash roms or radios,did you try toggling 3g on,then airplane mode and/or reboot? ive never had a data issue that a simple reboot didnt fix. well,except that one time. but it doesnt count :)

also,have you tried just letting the phone sit? it might not had off right away,but may pop after some time. id reboot,if still no 3g,let it sit for an hour... maybe even go to bed,look at it in the morning :)
 
i already re-f;ashed radio before getting your advice, sorry.

so i re-flashed and its still acting up. 4g starts up, not 3g. i had 3g start up for a few seconds but connection was so weak i couldnt get on the internet. i switched to 4g and was ok.

i put my phone on 3g with widget toggle, rebooted phone, and will see what it does tomm morning. Thanks for the help guys, i will take scottys advice and sleep on it. update coming in the morning.

Now that you have the correct radio, do yourself a favor and do a factory reset in recovery and then flash the rom again. You can back up app+data if you like, but I'd also just reinstall apps from the market. Guaranteed to work after that unless VZW has somehow screwed up your towers.
 
Ok so I woke up this morning and 3G still wont kick on. I did get 1x to kick on for a few seconds which was a nice surprise, but still no 3G. Stinks no 3G because that's what I use when not on wifi. I'd use 4g but it's too big a battery hog and when I leave 4g area I'm screwed.

Not sure if this is normal, but when I toggle 4g/3G widget it changes my network settings. I put it on lte + cdma/evdo auto but when I turn on 3G it changes network to CDMA/evdo auto.
 
Do not restore system data with titanium backup. But yeah a clean flash after wiping would be the next thing you should do
