I think fallout is a rather generic post apocalypse themed RPG it pulls elements of it's systems from a few sources. Not saying it isn't a good game but it isn't exactly original either

And that is what matters the idea of an "original" game died long before the first video games. Pong was a rip off of tennis. Presentation of an idea means a lot more than originality at least for video games.

Yeah, games only go so far as "originality" goes but, at least they do some things to stick out from others.
