Help Found:Working Version of Adobe Flash player for Previal!

No luck here with this version of flash.

ShabbyMod 9
Used blade buddy to enable the stagefright options then rebooted
Tiny Shark thinks flash IS installed, but won't play music.
Flash test site doesn't think flash is installed on stock or dolphin HD browsers.

i havent had any issues with flash on my phone and im using shabbymod hell i even have it linked to my sd card with link2sd

I've tried countless times to get this to work for me as well. I'm rooted with Froyo, tried with reboot on Tinyshark, Stock Browser, and Dolphin Mini with no luck. Any suggestions? I am still very new to the rooted world.

Just did a factory reset, reloaded shabby 9, pulled down tinyshark, it yelled and said flash wasn't installed. I installed flash from the QR link, rebooted, this time tinyshark "thinks" flash is loaded, as it doesn't yell at me and it shows the version in the flash test, but it won't play media files. And the flash test web site says flash is NOT installed using the stock browser. Still scratching head on this one.

The order of installs was:

1: Wipe and Reload Shabby
2: Load TinyShark (Tried to run, but it yelled "No Flash")
3: Loaded Flash From QR code.
4: Opened TinyShark again, this time it didn't yell no flash, but would not play music, no errors, just no sound.
5: Loaded Blade Buddy, enabled StageFright.
6: Opened TinyShark, still no workie.

Now here is the kicker. Left all the above alone, used phone as normal w/out flash working. Last night for kicks and giggles I tried TinyShark and it worked just fine, in amazment, I loaded the flash test site, and it said flash was installed (but outdated). Then I loaded a page with flash, and it worked fine.

So being a happy camper, I loaded Juice Defenter Ultimate, rebooted the phone, and now flash doesn't work again. LOL

Tried to use this for Crackle - which I would love to use. Sadly, it still shows that I need Flash Player. Bummer. :(

Rooted on Gingerbread, stock ROM and browser, and I did reboot after the install.

This does work with the Prevail! I have not used it in months. I just downloaded the most recent version from the link above and tested it with Tiny Shark. It is a good idea to reboot first, although, sometimes it will work anyway. I did try to move it to system apps using Titanium Backup, but had some problems.

The reason that I installed it is because I want to be able to watch Amazon Prime Free Movies on the Prevail. Just be sure that you have Auto Rotate set for the screen so that you can switch to landscape. I use Dolphin HD as the browser. Have not tried it with 3g but it works good enough from a strong WIFI connection. Maybe one of these days, Amazon will provide an app similar to the one for Netflix, but until then this will have to suffice.

Oh, and I did try to do it without installing Flash and it would not work. I thought that Dolphin would handle it but I guess not.

Really could not care less about flash other than for this, but since I pay the damn annual fee for Amazon Prime, might as well watch some movies besides just on the laptop. between that and Netflix, I do not need cable or Redbox. or the TV for that matter.

I am currently running GB, CTMOD 2.3, with the STYLE mod. from BloodDawn and Kouma Kernel from Colonel Kouma. Also A2SD tweaked by Inigo.

Darn it! This thing does NOT work with the new Crackle app as far as I can tell. Goes off into never never land of the spinning arrow and never stop once you select a program or movie. Without it installed, it prompts you to install flash from the market, which market says in incompatible.

But it does work from the crackle web site using Dolphin HD and the Flash Player.

Ok, I finally rooted my prevail, but now I need flash to work. So I did a google search and found your link. One problem, where is a working download link for the flash?

I clicked on your link and I find find where to download it, it just opens up endless popups of the same page over and over again. So far, it's nothing but an page click generator for people stupid enough to keep looking for the link.

If this was not your intention, please post the legit link to download, if not, then I will alert people that your link is bogus.

Thank you.

This is just a repost from a reply I made on another thread. Figured it should get its own post as some people might miss it due to the reinforcement that flash isn't supported on the Prevail... Which it wasn't, until now!

Small update, everything seems to be doing just fine. Other than a few embedded flash websites(smaller sites, all the big ones seem to be working just fine) everything else is working great. Youtube (without the app, just the page in the browser) Newgrounds, miniclip, and a couple other flash heavy sites are working just fine. Also dumped Pandora for the tinyshark app with no problems. Testing a few other "Flash Required" apps at the moment but so far no issues at all.

Now if I could only get Gun Bros to work (I know it won't, just because of hardware restrictions :/)

I've found a hacked version of AFP 10.1 that will install and work on the Prevail.

I've found it works on funnyordie.com and a few other embedded flash movie sites (ones that even skyfire can't play).

Though it does tend to slow down the phone, and its a rather large file 11.1 MB I believe after the install..

Not all video is perfect though, a few sites i've seen where its half grey and the other half has a green tint to it, but its better than nothing.

The flash player for armv6 processors can be found below at this link:

ANDROID CAMPUS: [APP] WORKING ADOBE FLASH PLAYER FOR ARMv6 ( ARM 11) ANDROID MOBILE PHONES

Side note, once downloaded/installed, reboot your phone before you attempt to browse the web.

Hopefully this clears up any didn't work posts.

Also added barcode so you can skip the site. Tends to have quite a few adds.

***EDIT***

Another side note, doesn't seem to work with Opera Mini Browser. It does work with Skyfire and Dolphin HD, along with the stock browser.

I found an updated page with live links for the download, since the original poster's links were dead. It was found by searching in google: "samsung prevail" working flash ARM6

Link below is good, tested myself 5 mins ago. Enjoy.

10.2 Works good most times. I use Dolphin which also has some form of flash support.

Wish version 11 would work with Prevail. I still do not get 100% of Flash stuff to work.

*Insert meme picture of "Challenge Accepted Guy" here* :P

it wasnt working on my stock rom
but i still have kept it... in my SD card
when i went to CTmod
The app was actually u and running! 8D
but i also crashed my phone cause i edited too much. xD

I got it working using a free browser from Market called Ninesky. It lets you watch videos in browser window and load them to your video player if you have one installed (whichever you choose in your prefs). It's a great cell phone browser. Check it out. It works regardless if you have flash installed or not, of even if flash isn't supported cause of cpu arm6. Some sites still require full version of flash installed, but not a lot.

Sorry to bring this up, Its been awhile sense anyone has posted on this thread.

I have been searching and really have not came up with a definitive answer to my question.

Can this work without being rooted?

I have installed and re-installed several times now and cannot get it to work.
I reboot after every install and go to the adobe flash site to check if its registering and its not. Also I have it downloaded to the phone not the SD card. I do not have alot of experience or knowledge in the cell phone mod world.

I am not rooted and here are the specs of my phone now

Model number - SPH-M820-BST
Android version- 2.3.6
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7
Build number - Gingerbread.FF19
Hardware version - M820.07

Any help would be great.

I'm not totally sure but you need to be rooted. Then need to use an explorer to apply it. Just loading it will not work

Well, the Prevail might be not the best Android phone around, I am sure. But as my first Android phone, I must say, I was impressed by it's normal performance already, but after rooting it ( via the guide suggested by cwhatever ) and putting on a custom ROM, I must clearly say, this is the best phone I ever had......

Not sure if I keep my HTC TouchPro 2 ( WinMobile 6.5 ) as a spare phone when travelling to Europe ( since it's a GSM phone ), but since I could not sell it on eBay, I might as well just keep it..... LOL

But I love the Prevail ( have two of them, one as every day phone, one to test and try things on it ) !

Cheers,

vce
