Fresh 2.1.2 out

I know that much...I did that however I would rather hear it from those that have used both versions of it rather than what flipz says he put in it.

Is it actually faster or does it lag more? I know it kills your space but is battery life better or worse in 2.1.2? Reading his site, I really do not see a difference unless someone has seen a difference.

me, dfresh, and some other users on this thread tried it out for a day or two and at least dfresh and me reverted back to 2.1.1 for various reasons including lack of free space and increased lag and a slight decrease in battery life (during standby).

do a nandroid backup of your current setup and flash 2.1.2. you can go back if you don't like 2.1.2. you also dont need to wipe your current phone so it'll keep all your settings/apps (ONLY if you currently have 2.1.1 and/or some version of Fresh).

cheers.

Well I wiped and re-did 2.1.2 this morning, and so far no issues so far. I did notice yesterday on the old 2.1.2 that the screen would not dim in low light, like when I was driving it was super bright. I will have to try it on the new load tonight. I did notice that battery drain doesn't seem to be as bad and my free space went up to 90mb. I will give it another day to see what happens.

you have free space of 90mb with 2.1.2? how many apps do you have installed?

i been messing around trying to find the best radio to see what works best and i get an error message when i try to open sprint tv saying i have to be a sprint customer....i am using 2.42.00.03.10..anyone know the fix for this?

msierra519 - I got that same issue as well after flashing the radio. I managed to get around that in a different way, but I use the NASCAR apk to have the race playing while I am at work.

I think I used the TV app to get the radio feed or the other way around. Needs to be fixed that is for sure.

I am also getting FC's in the people app ( 2.1.1 over 2.0d ) Outside of that its been working great.

Well I had issues with things needing to become SU in 2.1.1 so I upgraded to 2.1.2 and it is fixed. The lag does not seem bad and I see no keyboard lag (coming from 2.0d this is night and day).

Sprint TV works for me with the new radio which is good since I use that ALOT here at work.

For those on 2.0d, I would suggest making a nandroid backup then you can try to do it without doing a wipe. Here is the order I went in with no issues...2.0d to 2.1.1, reboot, new radio, reboot, 2.1.2, reboot, 2.1.2 SU Fix, reboot, enjoy!

That method work great for me with no problems.

2.1.2 had too many issues with the people app and just overall sluggishness, 2.1.1 was missing too many features for me, I went all the way back to 2.0d, hopefully we get an update soon

interesting...for me 2.0d was really slow and sluggish for my liking..2.1.1 was good until i flashed a new radio on it..and 2.1.2 has been great so far..

seems 2.1.2 has lost the setting to disable 3g to determine gps location and only use gps. is this feature hiding somewhere else now? 1.5 has a toggle. I'd like to cut down on necessary battery usage and am pretty sure it's on, because when load google maps and don't have gps on, it still puts a fix on my general location...

I guess different roms worked differently for different users. I think the only downfall of the 2.0d Rom for me is the laggy keyboard

hope there is a fix soon for the evdo connection dropping out. this has happened twice already. when this happens i need to go into settings>wireless & networks>uncheck and check back the mobile network part then it will start working again. also for some reason i was getting an error 500 when i attempted to use slacker. i dont think this was happening in the earlier roms. just a heads up to the ones who are keeping up with bugs for flipz.

happened all the time on vanilla cupcake for me. i find it easier to use the power widget on the home screen so as not to drill down to that off/on settings.

to reverberate does anyone know how to turn off using data to approximate GPS location? it's really a waste of battery as it's never accurate enough. vanilla 1.5 has a setting to disable it, not so w. 2.1, afaict.

also, launcher pro messages home screen icon defaults to messages app, despite handcent being set to default. any way around that? i tried clearing hancent as default thinking it would prompt be the next time, but it does not.

nevermind on using wireless for maps. i found the setting now tucked away in location. launch pro on the other hand is a dud if you can't even change the default home screen shortcut to point to handcent. plus despite, sense being a bit more resource heavy, it's just too pretty to miss, what with the clock widget screen animations.

i've been playing around with launcherpro for awhile... and found a nice little tip about the bottom buttons.... if you long press them, you can switch the icon to any other application or shortcut you want, it even gives you the color icon... looks REALLY NICE! :D

edit... just as i replied... on android central they put up a story just about launcherpro...

thanks! i thought i tried a long press before and got nadda, but I'll give it another whirl. Still, I really dig that HTC clock widget.

whey does it stated that IM is removed when it is in fact still in this build? I'd actually like to remove it as I prefer eBuddy. Anybody know how? It can't simply be uninstalled from manage applications. Would like to get rid of google chat too, as it's also redundant when using a multi client app like eBuddy or Meebo.

How does the bluetooth work in 2.1.2? It is a must have for me, so if there are any issues I won't be switching.

So far so good but it's only been a day. :D I use a Plantronics 975 BT headset and it works fine. Paired no problem on the first try.

On an additional note, the battery life seems to have totally improved with 2.1.2 over Fresh ROM 1.5 with Gumbo and setCPU (set at 128MHz for sleep). I know it's only been one day but I am really impressed. Today, I went of charger at 8:30am. I used about 50 minutes of talk via BT headset, pushed MS Exchange (e-mail and calendar) all day, GMail updating constantly, GPS on, live wallpaper, minimal texting, a little web browsing, updates from icanhazcheezeburger.com (love it!), and some general poking around on the phone including constantly waking up the phone to look at it. I am now 14.5 hours later and battery is at 25%. I think that is pretty good. Prior to flashing Fresh 2.1.2 with this type of usage, I would have gotten the 15% warning beep and had to plug in a few hours ago.

I just don't get how we can have such different results. For me, the battery life is worse than 1.5 vanilla, with NO setCPU. I'm lucky if I get 8 hours w/o low battery with relatively light usage; bt, wireless, etc. off; auto brightness;disabled data on maps, no exchange, only gmail sync... no difference between launcher pro or sense.

I flashed 2.1.2 today to see what it is like compared to Fresh Toast 2.1 and 2.1.2 is faster and quicker. Added the SU fix, so hope that works. Want to push the OMADM.apk fix from xda that is supposed to fix the PRL issue, but I am confused as to how to push it to /system/app. Anyone care to point out the steps?
