From iPhone to Note 2.. I'm in Love!

Shurple

I had an iPhone4.... after two years the battery was not having it anymore. I tried waiting for the S4 but VZW is sleeping on that, so I got a great deal on the Note2 at Best Buy. $199, and when I turned in my iPhone, I received $100. That made this Note 2 only $100.

I'm in love with this thing. The battery is sick. I did have one problem but that was totally my fault and because it was within the 14 days, I got a brand new phone replacement (I installed an app that bricked it and I know what app it was).

Anyway, I am happy to be here. iPhone is boring.

Welcome to the Note family. If I may ask, what was the app that bricked your phone? I've never heard of an app being able to do that.

I did the same thing 4 months ago, and came back to a iphone 5. I think I am done with Android for now. Got tired of all the little nit picking issues that Android has while iOS just works well and all the time. Honestly the bigger screen was nice, but I can live with the 4" screen for now.

Welcome, and yeah, i want to know what app so that we all can avoid it.
Exactly cause knowledge is power!!!

With any OS we share the good/bad apps and this is one I'd like to avoid at all cost; especially if it has bricking abilities--but as I said, I've NEVER heard of an app that can brick.

What issues did you have? They had to be major ones to downgrade to an I phone? ?

From syncing issues for email and contacts all the time, to the landscape to portrait not wanting to switch without rebooting, to some Bluetooth issues with my car, laggy most of the time and many other things I just got fed up with it. Also the size was ok but it was cumbersome throughout my work day.

Also too many security issues that my work will not allow android devices and only iPhones.

I don't think it's fair to call the iPhone a downgrade simply because we're quick to say Android is about choice when at the end of the day, any phone you choose to use is about choice.

Personally I'm in awe of anyone who can go from a 5'5" screen back to 3.5/4".....my eyes would not appreciate it.

That is strange. IOS is less secure...

Sounds more like a bad first experience with probably a bad device, you should have had it swapped to make sure you didn't just receive a bad device instead of being so quick to jump back on the Apple Wagon.

But that's the good thing about having choices :)

Care to explain the security issues android has?

Not that it would make me consider switching to apple, just curious :p

Actually no it's not. It's more and I have seen the software at my job that allows them to really lock down the phones/iPads they use heavily. You can to a point on an Android but they can be bypassed and reason why they are marked unsecure.

Less control over Android devices vs IOS. It's a security issue and since I work for the government they require IOS because they have more control over the devices. Mobile Iron is the software.

It wasn't the device. People say that, but when others are experiencing the same isssues too that doesn't fly.

I just upgraded from the droid bionic late last week, and I have to say...I can't put this phone down! I'm 6'5" and I finally feel like I have a phone built for me! This thing is super-fast, the camera is brilliant, and it never gets hot, despite the rigors I have been putting it through. I bought it off-contract and it feels like it was worth every penny!

Ahh well if you work for the government that's a more acceptable reason then.

I was under the assumption you meant android doesn't have enough security. My apologies for misunderstanding :)

But myself along with so many here prefer me and only me to have control over MY device.

I'll stick with Android :p :)

Maybe I'm one of the few people who didn't care about the so called walled garden that is Apple.
I don't see the ecosystem being that much different than Android.
Play store/iTunes--both serve the same purpose.

This is true.

I often think people and companies alike choose apple for its name and because it's been around longer than android (I think at least :p)

But being a flasher, no way I could switch over :D

I had the Note 2, went back to iPhone 5 due to no native
Amazon Instant app. IMO, iTunes & Amazon destroy Google Play
in movie and TV show selection. That being said, they are both awesome
devices. If the Note 2/Note 3 every gets the Amazon app, I'd go back.
I was playing with the Note 2 in Best Buy this past weekend, and the split screen feature
is really cool. The S-pen is also a lot of fun. With either phone, you can't go wrong.

Great post. I truly LOVED my iphone 5 as i have aleays been an Apple fanboy BUT MY 42 YEAR OLD eyes could not take the small screen anymore. Im loving my Note 2, yes its a HUGE learning curve but i was so bored with iphone and this is soooo good for me to customize and do what i want with it. I havent had one hiccup or freeze or lag at all and i havent put this phone down in 5 days. If i would have any of those hiccups then it would be right back to iphone.

I hadn't realized how much a bigger screen could be appreciated until I got my Evo. I actually spent a large amount of time using it for everything including phone calls. Having a big screen made the phone fun to use.

I also felt my iPhones provided the fun factor too so I can't knock the phone at all. Mine were all jailbroken so there was much I could do with them.

If Apple ever decided to make a 5" iPhone, I'd consider getting one since I already have a few hundred dollars in paid apps.

I loved my Iphone because it was simple to use and it worked 99.9% of the time, but with the small screen and all of the limitations there are I wanted something more. Android fits what I want in a phone so that is why I have the Note2. I went from Iphone 3g>3gs>4>Samsung Infuse(horrible)>4s>S2 Skyrocket>4s>s3>i5>note2. I still really enjoy the mass amount of awesome apps Itunes has and that's why I purchased a Ipad mini.

I almost picked up the mini but in my household that would be *i*overkill. I haven't dismissed the purchase completely but right now it's not necessary.

Interestingly enough some family members have become Android converts but only after seeing my Note 2. 3 months ago we welcomed the One X (my sister's phone) and last month another new addition; the S3 (my niece's phone). LOL!

I just got the note 2 yesterday - an upgrade from my iphone 3gs. I want to like this phone but honestly right now I hate it. So many little things the iphone os does that android does not do right. Everything on the iphone is so intuitive, not the case so far with the note 2 at all. Just one small example, when I set the alarm on the iphone and it goes off I get tap snooze and it automatically snoozes for I think 10 minutes. With the note 2 there does not appear to be a snooze function, or if there is I had to somehow configure it.
Then there is the keyboard which is either faulty or impossible to type on. Swift is better but still not nearly as good.

Oh another huge negative for me is that it came with all these apps that I apparently cannot remove.. there are probably 5 at n t apps that I don't want, yet I can't take them off....

Sounds like you just need some time to get used to the android OS and learn where everything is. There is a snooze option. Clock>Alarm>More>Snooze.

When the alarm goes off

X place your finger on it & swipe right to stop

zZ place your finger on it & swipe left to snooze for 5 min.
