Froyo EC05 (DI18 users - Install instructions post 39)!

The wife and I got EC05 about 20 minutes ago here in MO. I was pissed because she got hers about 5 minutes before me >: O. Oh well, we're both up and running now.

I competely understand that. So let me ask another question: are there users who updated with their rooted epic and had no problems whatsoever?
 
Was surprised to see I got the EC05 update at lunch today. Aside from SpintID I don't notice any huge differences from EB13 but I'll see how goes for a while.
 
after trying to update manually unsuccessfully with the EC05 zip I just received this message

but battery is low..lol..gotta wait for it to charge to see if it works on my rooted EB13 Epic


**Update** OTA did not work for me while rooted... but did manage to install via zip finally and now have EC05 and also rooted w/ 2.5.5..next kernal..then rom.. =)
 
So I still have nothing. Maybe it's only happening in the Midwest? Anyone with EB13 on the West Coast get the update to EC05?
 
Well, lo and behold! I did a market update for my apps and the EC05 update arrived. I hope this fixes my phone's issues. So far I can read text as I enter it. That's an improvement already.
 
same here. updated LP Pro and immediately got the prompt to update. going from EB13(non-rooted) to EC05. Norfolk, VA.

don't get to play with the phone, as i am at work and work in a SCIF.
 
Ok so maybe I missed it in the threads somewhere, but I just got the OTA today, but haven't installed it. I have the EB13 right now that I got from the Samsung site OTW. Will I be able to download the EC05 with no problems? or should I just wait? Thanks for the help!!

Every installation has some risk of not working but I am under your exact scenario (downloaded eb13 from samsung) and I just got my OTA update (Philly, PA) and it went flawlessly.
 
I had EB13 and got the update at 10:30ish last night. I was a little nervous updating it because my brother got it earlier in the week, he was still on DI18, and his phone was very laggy and screwed up from what he told me. He called up Sprint bitching at them that he wanted 2.1 back.

But i'm ok with it so far. I had to uninstall, reinstall the flash updates and do a hard reboot to get my video's to play again though. When i first went to EB13, my video's would play without an issue only 1 out of 20 or so times until the flash update came out a couple days later. Any one else notice this issue?
 
Hey nothingman! Thanks so much! I was a little worried, but as you said the update went flawlessly. Finished in about 10 minutes...well enough that when I finished up with a patient it was done! Thanks again for giving me peace of mind!
 
I've tried the OTA update and the manual update (sdcard/update.zip/) several times, and it won't install for some reason. Even after I uninstalled my root and all the root-related apps (I factory reset the phone twice after I undid the root) I still get this:

Verifying update packinage...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...

Use odin to put your phone back to DI18 that way you dont need to worry about rooting phone or unrooting phone.
Then use the SPH-D700_DI18ToEC05.zipto update phone from SD card
