Froyo release day - Nov 11th

its highly doubtful the og droid will ever see (official) gingerbread...motorola gave it 2,2 which will most likely be its last official release...as it benefits them in no way financially to give a year and a half old phone updates

Who said anything about official?;)

All I want is the fixes!! I got to have that GPS one. I already have the app work around but would like it fixed.

That is primarily what I want too. When my GPS locks, it is accurate typically down to 2-3 meters, but sometimes it takes quite some time to get a lock.

I have a prediction......gingerbread will be out on the original droid, before we ever see froyo on the fascinate:D

Can't believe it, but nightelvesreasy was right....

What that link says is that the 2.2 update is available for the Vibrant, not sure what the SGH-T959 is but my Fascinate is an SCH-I500 and this is the update from Samsung, not Verizon. You typically want to wait for your carrier to tweak it for their network, then wait a few more days for our awesome community devs to release an image for rooted phones. Those images will be even better than what Verizon pushes out, will have less bloatware and better tweaks.

There is a lot of speculation as to when we will actually see FroYo, I am starting to agree with those who think we will skip to 2.3 (Gingerbread).

I seriously doubt that. It'll go to 2.2, and end. Root users might get a chance to see 2.3 someday, but otherwise I seriously doubt it.

Im still saying its a coin flip whether official. 2.3 ever makes it to the fascinate...,but because 2.2 and 2.3 are very closely related and because the radio files from 2.2 should make 2.3 functional......

It would shock me if within 2 weeks of either a froyo leak or ota that the root crowd doesn't have a fully functional 2.3. :)

It's now 2011......NO UPDATE......

I'm not in a hurry to get 2.2. I love getting updates, but I just got the Samsung Fascinate for Christmas, and after having a really bad experience when I got the 2.1 update for my Eris, I will wait until it is good and ready :)

Just to see what they say I sent Samsung and Verizon a hate letter. Stating that I was told upon purchase that we'd have 2.2 by years end and we still don't. My car dock still isn't fully functional.

Anyhow Samsung dodged the point and said when/if 2.2 is available for the fascinate that it will post on their website first. And verison said that it has to be sent out is stages so they can test for bugs and that it will be available soon on all handsets.

No one knows what is going on.

Samsung doesnt hate us... the carriers release it when they want to... carriers need to add all their BS bloatware and such before they release.

so dont blame Samsung :)

Id say at this point its equal parts blame samsung and vzw

No us sgs phone has been delivered official froyo yet....and the common factor in that is clearly samsung

That being said the fact that vzw is still considering and testing 2.1 otas is disturbing and a victims failure
