Root Froyo thoughts

Okay, so I use the lg mobile updater to get this update?could someone please post instructions, I'm so lost guys, I really need some help to understand this

One thing i noticed...i was running velocity .4 with apps2sd , and kept getting bootloop at android screen. i tried wiping cache, data, sd-ext, dalvik, everything. I finally got it by copying everything off of my card, the partitioning with 0 swap and 0 ext, then it booted...i think the ext portion might cause an issue.

to keep root like indifferent said to, i used root explorer to extract 2.3.5, then went into the extracted folder and installed it. after flashing with lgmu, i flashed the zip with 2.3.6.1 on it, and i still have root. hope this helps someone

I'm rooted with the new Su, installed Root Manager and removed the crapware. I've got my phone back to the way I want it and 82 MB free memory to boot. :) I am HAPPY !!

did you already have root manager, or did you use it from mandroid?

I purchased it back when I first rooted and installed Velocity 0.2

Also I reinstalled Velocity v 0.4 today and had Among Ra in place prior to getting LG Mobile Updater to work. BTW my earlier trouble with downloading the update was caused by my workplace firewall. It installed right away once I got home.

If you had recovery (custom) before you pushed the update, you still can. Just get in there and clear cache and dalvik, download the market SU and then reflash the SU update.

I guess I'm stuck on the how to "Just get in there" part, I keep getting an error occurred attempting to run privileged commands. from Rom manager.

I think a write up is in order..at least to be able to keep root...the 2.3.5 version of superuser worked, and allowed me to keep root, then flash the zip from recovery. I had a bootloop until i reformatted the card(i'm assuming because of ext partition), but then it was easy

Glad you have it working.!
Mr Indifferent could you give some attention to the questions about Recovery in a couple of threads. I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks for all of your help.

We need as many helpful people as possible.
You Rock brotha.

anybody else having text notification issues? mine plays the default ringtone no matter what i have it set to in the messaging app. odd.

I've addressed some questions, what exactly did you want me to answer?

@Soco, my text notification is custom. I can't tell you why that isn't working.. Try clearing cache and restarting. If that doesn't work I'll try to find out what the issue is.

hey indifferent, when i try to update using the lgmu, it gets ti the part where it has to download the software, and it wont download?

A lot of people are having that issue. My guess is that Verizon took it out so they can do OTA updates.. I think that was a premature release by them.
