Not kidding.. Was helping my kids with Kindergarten math: no biggie, but doing all that unnecessary work involved only teaches kids how to get the same job done but with excessive work involved.. That messes up their "problem solving" mentality, they won't ever learn how to get anything done "the easy way" or "faster". Why the heck can't we just do something the easy way and get it done in half the time? It's not like the schools are providing less homework to get done in same timeframe!!

with anything.. the foundation is important.
they need to understand the fundamentals.. and how it is achieved.
doing math the long way; is how you build their basic understand..
so that they can do the harder math later.

before for you can run.. you have to walk and balance.. and stand.

showing the work.. helps to the instructor.. confirm their understanding of the process.
