Root Future Anthrax

Well it looks like flashing kernel 2.1 is giving me problems with WiMax. Had to revert to the previous Anthrax Kernel for now. :/

No problems for me on 2.1 with WiMAX...I flashed 2.5 in between calls ..it fixes 3d but breaks WiMAX..reverted back to 2.1 for now

I should add my phone has been running WiMAX all morning ..about 5 hours..I have downloaded and pretty much everything else without much issue..maybe your signal where you are is acting a lil whacky today?

Yeah, that's possible. I'll flash it again later to see if I'm still having the same issue.

Does anyone else have the problem with version 2.1 that the CPU stays in hot-plug mode, meaning the second core doesn't stay on, even when I flashed the duel core mod.

Yeah, it seems to work in dual core right after adjusting frequencies in setcpu, but then within a minute or two it goes back into hot-plug mode for me.

Someone in the kernel thread on the Anthrax forums said that the kernel has asynchronous SMP, i.e. it only turns on the second core when it's needed. Not sure if it's true or not though.

That's what the stock kernel does though, I would think he should be modding his kernel to include the dual-core mod we have here but I'm not sure

Well Johnny, I flashed both kernels 2.1 and 2.5 and it looks like it's a no go for me. When I turn the 4g radio off, it never turns completely on. And having no WiMAX is a dealbreaker for me. I'll just wait until the kernel is more stable.

Bummer. My 4g is working as well (sending this over it in fact). As I understand it 2.5 breaks the 4g but it is working for many of us on 2.1.

Just flashed 2.5 and it says I'm connected to 4g but in speed test its as if I'm on 3g. (same tower and speed as 3g)

I completely understand..for me 2.1 is all good ..try redownloading from a pc..then transfer to sd ...maybe a bad dl?

Chads kernel is pretty much a stock HTC kernel with oc and a few tweaks ..probably why second core wont stay engaged..but I kinda like that..I only want my phone to hustle when I need it to or I am putting alot if stress on it..other wise it seems to do fine running off of one overclocked core 90% of the time..just my thoughts ..

Alright if you're having issues, like I was having, let me say this.
1. Flash the kernel with the same SD card you use all the time.
2. Make sure you do not get out of the recovery, and clear your dalvik cache and cache after flashing.

I flashed Anthrax 2.5
I can overclock just fine, 3D is working, 4G antenna turns on (No 4G here so don't know if it functions)d

It looks like Chad is aware of the issue I'm having with WiMAX not coming back on after turning it off. I'm trying my luck with version 2.6.

Well after flashing 2.6 and when I turned on WiMAX, my phone froze and started bootlooping. :(

EDIT: Phone stopped bootlooping soon after I unplugged the phone from my computer. Unfortunately 2.6 didn't solve the issue for me.

don't worry bro..i am having the same issue with 4g..i started playing with it earlier after i read your posts..and could recreate the problem..i posted in his thread that vm users are having issues with 4g..hopefully a fix will soon follow

Alright, cool.

EDIT: It looks like if you try to turn WiMAX on again after turning if off, you have to reboot the phone afterwards.

are yoi able to turn 4g on once you do a reboot? right after it gets stuck on "turning on 4g"?

4G activates on its own after the phone reboots. But once you turn it off and try to turn it back on, you have to reboot the phone again to completely turn it on every time.

Yeah 4g has been sketchy for me too, but I think that was even before this kernel. Anyways, 2.6 has got my 4g speed back to normal ~6mbps ..

Sorry if this is rude but can someone put up a link for the kernal??? I'm at work.. not enuff time to read this whole thread atm
