Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy Note

I'm kinda torn between these two devices. Leaning towards the Note though. Which one is actually more powerful in terms of computing and graphics?

I'm also concerned about application support. Most new smartphones have a resolution of 1280x720, but the Galaxy Note has 1280x800 - I don't think there are any other smartphones with this kind of resolution, I wonder how existing apps and games will look like on the Note's display.

Galaxy Nexus looks sleek but I think Galaxy Note looks better overall.
 
I'm interested in the Note as well...however, my understanding is that it won't hit the US until "1Q12" which means probably March (I'm a realist here) and then may/may not be on the carrier of choice (VZW for me) and I just need to upgrade from my OG now.

I really like the look of the RAZR, that's the competition for me right now. Was briefly looking at the HTC Vigor/IncHD but with the historical battery issues, that pretty much killed it for me.
 
Or you could just order from outside US and have it shipped. The Droid RAZR indeed looks nice, save for that protrusion at the top of the back side.
 
I already suspect that the GNex is going to be on the edge of too big for me. Once I saw that the Note was 5.3" - no thank you. Just too damn big. Cell phones don't need to try to be tablets - I have a tablet to be a tablet.

Plus, 5.3" doesn't give you enough real estate for a tablet, but it makes for an enormous phone... I just don't see it being a good in-between. If they enabled phone functionality (via Bluetooth, of course) on a 7" tablet, I could at least see the thought that you have a real tablet that can just be a phone sometimes.
 
I'll be going with the Galaxy Note. Perfect size for me. I want the biggest screen possible while out and about and 5.3" seems to be the perfect size and is still pocketable.
 
P.S. this very discussion is the beauty of Android. If I buy an iPhone, in two years, even if my needs change, I'd better be happy with a smallish phone with a smallish screen. Even if they enlarge to 4" on the iPhone 5, that's it - that's the max.

If I'm on Android, though, in two years, I can decide I'd like a 5+ inch semi-tablet form factor...
 
I also agree about the many choices for an Android phone, but the problem with Androids is that you see a new phone with better specs relatively too often, and you'll be compelled to upgrade yet again. At least for the iPhone, you'll know you have the best iOS phone for about a year or so.

That being said, I'm switching to the Galaxy Note once it comes out, and ditching my iPhone 4. The iPhone's screen size just doesn't just doesn't cut it anymore.
 
I would love to get the Galaxy Note (because I would love to get the bigger screen) but who knows when and where it will arrive in the US? I don't want to wait 5 more months only to find out that has been pushed back to August on a carrier I don't like.
 
5.3 seems a bit big for me. 4.65 seems about right. I say that now, but in a year I'll probably be complaining that I don't have a 5.5 inch phone...lol I said the OG droid size was perfect when it came out. Then the 4.3's started coming out. Finally got an X2 and it felt huge and great. Now it feels small. Haha.
 
Im in thr same position, stuck between these two devices, and not knowing which way to turn. Again, I think the note just edges it for me.
A) I like the bigger screen
B) I like the gorilla glass... No word yet on material or scratch resistance of gnex screen

The thing that holds me back is ICS. I would like to hope that it comes to the note pretty quickly, but theres no promise or certainty to this.

Also, all this talk of the hardware acceleration for the nexus... Does anyone know if the same could be said for any dual core device that runs ics? Will we likely see zero shutter lag on the note if it got ics?

Once this goes on sale it will show up on the GG website, but keep in mind just b/c its not on their website it doesn't mean it doesn't have it. For example, my Droid Charge has GG, but nowhere does it say in on their site. So keep that in mind.

Samsung Note has better specs all round, except for ICS.

I would get the note over the nexus, it should be available next month.
 
I actually wish they would make more high end 4 inch phones. I dont need a huge phone and I think 4 inch is the perfect size IMO. I will probably grab the nexus but if it is to large I will hold off.

Where are you hearing that it will be available next month? Everything I've seen online talks about January - March at the earliest.
 
The galaxy note is huge. I cannot see that fitting easily into any pocket unless you wear cargo shorts all the time. I think the galaxy nexus is plenty big and anything larger than that is too big IMO.
 
Lol....I have some pretty Big Mitts! But that thing looks Crazzzzy large! To each his own though...Thats the Beauty of choice!
 
For someone who was an Android junkie, was forced to an iPhone 4, and am now going to the Nexus, I have learned that, for me at least, the user experience as a whole is far more important than specs and whatnot. The iPhone 4 was not as good "spec wise" as my ThunderBolt or my DX, yet in some ways it felt better, simply due to the user experience. Everything was clean, everything worked, and everything was smooth.

The Note might have better specs and a bigger screen, but I need that ICS. I need that better user experience. And I want it without the chance (and who knows if this will be the case) that Samsung might throw some TouchWiz on there.

New updates and interface don't really matter that much, it will look fresh and will benchmark better under some circumstances but the user experience won't really change much, it's mostly all in your mind.

I hope you don't play games, Galaxy Nexus uses an overclocked SGX540 GPU, yes the same one from the Galaxy S/Nexus S. The overclock will help a little but that will be hugely offset by the fact it has to run games at 1280*720, it's going to struggle. :D
