Awesome map if you just HAVE to know what air your phone is probably working off of.

Interesting. It's sounding like reception/signal issues cause by actual distance from towers is more serious than my issue more related to obstructions. Do either you or tluley51 know whether you have Verizon 850mhz CDMA bands in your area? The Charge is the biggest tell though as the difference suggests a slightly less optimized antenna as the Modem and radio are about the exact same thing. Haven't tried my wife Charge at work here to compare 3g weak signal differences.
EDIT: Forgot to ask if the Rezound, Thunderbolt, Charge, or Vortex do any better at acquiring a data connection or are they just better at keeping a signal and not killing battery?
I've always heard the viruses weren't an issue with apple computers.
Do you know of any useless stuff I should delete when I start it up or add?
Think of an apple computer like a pure google android experience. There's no 'carrier' bloat so to speak. Same really goes for windows really.. it's generally the extra stuff manufacturers add on that cause the problems.
Apples don't have to worry about viruses as much as Windows machines. The OS works differently.. it's very much like an iPhone. It's a walled garden approach. They're fine computers and the way they use memory made them the best at using memory-intensive programs such as video and picture editing for quite some time.. however, that's debatable nowadays. You won't run into many viruses on them (if any) for a variety of reasons, one of the lesser known ones is back in the 80's Apple had 'street cred' with the hacking community over Jobs and Woz having a relationship with one of the most respected phone hackers around. So they left the mac alone and went after dos. Of course that probably has no bearing on today's viruses but it's an interesting bit of history.
Apple computers are overpriced for what they are, but they are really the perfect computers for people who are not technically inclined. They just work without much thinking about them. And if there is an issue, rebuild desktop/repair permissions pretty much fixes it (think factory reset on android).
Well said! I've found macs are still the preference in the film/art world at least for indepdents. We will see how the new FCP X piece of junk chances that in the longer run but for now they're pretty safe.
In terms of cost, my desktop is a hackintosh. All the benefits I need of a Mac at less than half the cost. And yes it's legal because it's in a g5 case and in order to legally install OSX you just need the computer to be labeled as a Mac. I am hoping to upgrade my MBP which is now 6 this spring, other than heavy rendering, it's still doing quite well, just can't keep up with my needs. I've found Macs tend to balance somewhat of the cost by having a longer lifespan on average.
Funny story...
I went to my banks atm to withdraw $300. 30 seconds later I have a receipt and no money. I now have to wait up to 10 days to get my money back. Merry Xmas everyone

Phew! Bet that was scary glad it works
So did you power on the phone normally with just the power button after you installed the new ext battery and it went to that screen? Most often, a battery pull will solve it. Or, if you are tooted, you can push volume buttons down and up at the same time and while keeping them down push power button and hold all 3 till it vibrates (well this is true for some phones don't know about the GN yet). Is how you'd get into recovery from a dead state.
I did that the other day. I also did it again last night. A battery pull solved it. I also figured out HOW I did it and I bet you did the same thing.
When you powered on the phone you had it in your hand and as you pressed the power button with your thumb your middle finger gripped the phone harder and pressed the volume rocker down. Voila, you have now entered Odin Mode.
Am I right? Or did find a second way to do it?
!
Its very possible that is what happened since I do typically hold the phone that way. Seeing the bootloader isn't what scared me though - it was that the phone was unresponsive and had the message "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!"
I just bought an Incipio 2 piece case in a matte black finish. You cant tell who makes this phone or what carrier its on.It looks like the monolith in 2001 A Space Oddesey. (I am sure BB never saw this movie either.)
I haven't seen more than 10-12 hours on my extended battery. Guess I just use it more.

I'm only getting 5-6 on mine, so I guess I do too
You would be correct.
Me too!! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I figure if I wasn't using the Phandroid app, and playing words and hanging with friends it would last a lot longer.

Look what I did!
