I've been ok with my standard battery. Probably 10 - 12 as well, but I only use wifi at home and haven't been using it a ton away from my couch ;) I have NFC and gps turned off as well which I think helps. I think I'll charge my standard battery to full (in phone) then swap for an overnight charge on the extended.

Oh and fwiw the screen protector included with Diztronic cases isn't horrible! It's looking pretty good on my mommy's Rezound. Very pleasantly surprised.
 
Saw some discussion of if Macs/OS X could get Viruses the answer is that for most part both Windows and OS X do not get viruses. Instead, they get malware, software that tricks the user into installing it, once that is on the machine you get viruses. There are Trojans for OS X and some worms, but due to the low market share the black hats (hacker bad guys) do not waste time making viruses for a machine that is less then 15% of the market.

Also, the two best defenses against this things are: Keep your machine UPDATED!!! and be a smart user, don't run programs at random, check urls, read e-mails carefully!!!


Apple over all practices what is known at security through obscurity , not publishing or exposing their software for testing. At the most recent PWN2OWN (a hacker competition) OS X was the first OS to get hacked each time.

0.2.3 but the subtle tweaks are super awesome. I love 4.0.3 so far and it's really fast. Gonna test extended battery tomorrow and report back.

Highly recommended ROM.
 
Just finished an interesting film. "The Troll Hunter". It's a subtitled Norwegian film shot in a fashion similar to Blair Witch. I enjoyed it. Worth a look if you like foreign films.

Might as well mention another Norwegian my kids and I liked: "Dead Snow". Nazi Zombies, need I say more? Great fun. :)
 
is there somewhere with information about peter alfonso's nightly ics rom? i can't find information about it, just a download link. like is it aosp? deodexed or odexed? are there any customizations to it? thanks!

Alright got my extended battery in! Feels better in hand with no case on compared to standard because it's only a hair thicker and heavier. TPU case fit back on easily. Looks like it will be my day to day battery and the standard will be my back up :)

I've been meaning to watch Dead Snow for ages! I'd heard of Troll Hunter too - Europe is really doing all the great innovate horror stuff in the last 5+ years. (but please don't tell my sfx makeup friends! They might get upset that I don't favor their stuff! Good as The Craziest was...)

Do you know if the Netflix 1080 app works on it?

That's the only thing stopping me from flashing that particular rom.

Are you having issues with gmail sync on romans toro build 9? With a lot of these latest 4.0.3 builds you need to flash gapps immediately following your rom flash. No reboots inbetween.

Because of some of these sync/flash order issues you'll soon see these ROM's with gapps built in :D

thanks jbdan! yes i'm having problems with gmail sync but i did flash gapps right away without a reboot. i guess i could try to reinstall everything again?

the one thing i didn't do was specifically wipe my caches before installing. all i did was the data/factory reset. then flashed rom, then gapps, then reboot.

Your probably OK as a wipe data/factory reset does that. Well it's supposed to anyways. I like to wipe data/factory reset, then wipe cache partition, then format system under mounts and storage, then wipe dalvik cache...all before a new ROM flash. That's just me though I like to be thorough :cool:

This way, if issues arise, I know most likely it is not something I did prior to the flash, and more likely something with the ROM/kernel/CWM version/etc...
 
Yeah brightside, if you don't mind, try a re-flash but do all the things I listed even if they are redundant. CWM has a history, and a well documented one, of sometimes not doing the best job house cleaning :p
 
Hello all...I'm back, but I'm still whining. I'll post a quick update, and then I'll try to disappear again. So after the fiasco with the $100 off, VZ was shipping my GNex. It was supposed to arrive Monday. Blizzard. No go. Tuesday? Roads were cleared up by noon, still no Fed Ex. Today, tracking said it was on the truck to deliver. I stayed home ALL day. I finally did leave at 5:45 to serve supper at my church, advent worship, and I was back home at 7:30. I left a signature release on the door, but it was still there when I got home. I live in a small town, and yet I saw TWO different Fed Ex trucks. One even stopped at a house two doors down...but not here! At 8:53, my phone was checked BACK into the Fed Ex distribution center...sigh. REALLY? I called the Fed Ex number and they said that the drivers said the roads were impassable. Really? Then how did the truck get down my street the first time? The distribution center is 45 miles away, but if they tell me in the morning that they won't be able to deliver, or won't guarantee delivery, I guess I'll make a trip down there and pick it up. But my luck, I'll get there and they'll say "Oh, sorry, it's on the truck."
I've been avoiding the boards because quite honestly it just makes me sad that I don't have my phone yet...
Hope you are all having a wonderful time with your phones. Hope you are working all the bugs out so that when I get mine, you'll be able to help me get it all working great!

I get no data in my house and my signal says -120 but I just had my first phone call (yes the very first since I bought it lol) and it was clear and loud and perfect. So maybe the signal meter isn't set right. Because if I have 'no' signal then I shouldn't be able to text and call

Text and calls seem to be ok. I've been very happy with the call quality even if the speaker could be a little stronger.

Data doesn't come through from what I can tell. But I'm always on wifi at home because we are in a very dead spot. We are in the middle of a dip in a winding Road next to a lake so all service is weak in the house except on the 3rd floor. I get a bar of 4g up there but haven't checked the real stats yet.

mostly I'm just confused why it dropped by -10 from one day to the next in the exact same spot.
