Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Wow, much better!!

Thanks!

What dimensions did you use?

1440 x 1280. The trick is to get the picture lined up in the center for when scrolling is disabled. It was because of the TronVader I was able to make a template for future wallpapers. The background on him was like a grid.
Glad you like it!

Any word on when 4.0.3 rolls out?

I thought with this Nexus everybody would get it at the same time, but it doesn't appear that way.

Could Vzon be involved in that somehow?

On a related note, negative props to Verizon for their advertising.

Freaking Razr ads are 20-1, with full videos of the handsome dude eyeballing his new razr stuck to the spears.

Sammy can't be happy.

Doesn't appear they have any backup ad's rolling either from Sammy or Google.

Underwhelming.

I don't know what the testing process is for updates, but I know the Windsock was testing 4.1 right before he got spanked and had his toy taken away.

There's gotta be testing done before release, although I don't think it will be nearly as long as if it was solely in Verizon's hands. If it was all Verizon, we'd still be on 4.0.

I remember the Love Tunnel said that the Gnex would be getting almost no marketing, especially in relation to the RAZR. I am surprised, though, at the total lack of marketing other than a quick holiday commercial that doesn't emphasize it at all.

Still don't understand the minimal/nonexistant marketing of the Galaxy Nexus. It has to be down to money (isn't everything?). Verizon won't be making any money off the Galaxy Nexus, except for what they make in 2-year contracts. They will probably miss the revenue generated by the bloat that comes on every other Verizon smartphone, but at $30/month for 2GB data, I'm sure it's not hurting their bottom line.

Just my opinion, and I may be wrong, but not much else makes sense.

Just installed Nova Launcher -- so far so good.

Having trouble finding the extended battery. Amazon doesn't have anything and it's not found on Verizon's website. Maybe they will get some at the beginning of next year, along with the multimedia dock.

Is everyone using clockwork or TiBackup..or do we need both? Advantage of 1 vs the other? Thanks and happy Friday!

I use both; I think they serve slightly different purposes.

Titanium Backup is great for backing up and restoring individual apps, but it's not really the right tool for backing up the system itself. So I find it most useful in cases where I want to flash a new ROM and then get all of my apps back.

Nandroid (CWM) backups are better for saving a kind of checkpoint, a known-good configuration you can later get back to. Once you get your phone the way you like it, make a Nandroid backup, and then you don't have to worry too much about messing things up.

I also used Nandroid to migrate my complete configuration over to my new Nexus when I swapped. Worked like a charm.

Okay. So I'm running Gummynex 4.0.3, with Franco's kernel, and the blue softkey mod.

I love it so far! Very smooth and quick.

I'm hoping my apps will work as well as they did for Universal HD, but I'm not holding out too much hope for Netflix 1080.

How's this for minimalist? lol

Nice Han. That's exactly what I'm looking for! No notification or Google Search bars, the Search and menu in the soft keys and I love the Tron blue.

So I wanted to post a couple of pics and share my battery related story.

First the wallpaper:

And here is my signal screen. This is on 4g at work:

I gotta say my regular battery is quite underwhelming but I am still completely stock on ics 4.0.2, and not rooted or unlocked. I am making myself wait at least 30 days before doing any mods....I have not played any games yet, and only watched a couple of YouTube. Plus I have not had my kids yet since getting my phone and my 10yr old and I have an Angry Birds competition everytime he is here...and I am completely running the regular battery dead everyday. I am up at 430 am and bed about 11 pm...and the battery is less than 10% every night. I have not had to charge it during the day yet, however I can see that as soon as I start using it more I will have to. Gonna invest in the ext battery I think...plus waiting for the multimedia dock so I can get the home TV and comp server all linked through the gnex.
And finally thanks to all here for the input as always. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all...

Back to lurking now...

Hey Stigy, you mentioned modifying the systemui.apk for the software keys.

I was wondering if you knew how to change the colors for them?

I have the actual Tron color hex (18CAE6), which I'd like to change them to.

I unzipped Revolution HD's rom in another folder to play around with, but can't find the file.

From what I remember reading you have to open systemUI.apk in a zip program and look for the drawable folder and it should be in there. I'd look for color customization in the one from rootzwiki to see what they actually changed because I am not near a computer so can't be definite.

I'd search their file for color or the # symbol and see what you come up with. Let me know how it goes.

I'm using apk manager for it, I've unzipped the .apk file and am scrounging around, but there are multiple drawable folders. I'll take a look and see what happens.

I went out horseback riding with my college daughter today. It was an absolutely gorgeous blue bird day and I said, "Darn, I wish I brought the camera."

Wait a minute....

In light of the recent autobiographies and on behalf of the three of us on the forum who do NOT live in New Jersey, here are some GNex photos of my back yard of Moab.

This place just screams for the panorama function. My daughter loved it!

I see that you "dual sport" horses. Do you "dual sport" motorcycles? Do you know Fred over at Arrowhead?

Quick question:

I saw that Revolution HD updated the ROM.

When I flash it, do I have to do a data/cache/dalvik wipe, too, as if I was coming from another ROM?

From 2.1.1 to 2.1.2? Nope just cache partition and dalvik wipe. and 2.1.2 is beautiful and stable

Is everyone using clockwork or TiBackup..or do we need both? Advantage of 1 vs the other? Thanks and happy Friday!

Clockwork to backup, restore, and flash stuff. Titanium to backup apps (paid version allows a batch restore instead of having to do them one by one)

The only time I go into clockwork is to reboot into recovery. I use TiBackup for apps.

I think you mean rom manager? clockworkmod IS recovery, but yeah :)

Out for delivery. :D My Nexus should be here today!

Aww-sum!! Grats!

Han check this out -- I found a systemUI.apk editor on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289357

Let me know if it works for you.
