Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hey y'all,

Been a while. Been lurking mostly.

Miss y'all. Miss being on staff, but that is neither here, but maybe there...

Anyway, just dropping in to let you all know that I am doing well.

My daughter, Olivia LaRee Martinez is expected any day now (ETA is March 13 but The Wife is 3cm dilated as of Thursday)!

Got a new job at Acura. Still 'severely' part-time at Best Buy just in case I find out I can't sell cars and I need a job. Funny thing is, I had this job at Acura back in June and declined it to go with Best Buy because of my love for tech. Now after 7 months of the same pay and not enough time (read: can't keep making what I'm making whilst proving myself) to dedicate to the next promotion, I'm taking a leap of faith...

I don't know how well I am going to do selling on commission. It was a fear I had last summer when I took the guaranteed paycheck at Best Buy instead of taking a risk...Still nervous...

But with another child coming at any moment, I went for it; I'm going for it...

On a different note, I've been blessed with the opportunity to join the Praise Team at my Church. I've been a part of the team since late October but it didn't feel real until recently. It has brought me closer to God, my Wife and kids and various family members and friends.

God is truly good no matter the circumstances. I know this because I am still able to do the things that need be done to live my life in a positive manner for my family and friends. And for that I am grateful.

As far as tech, I'm still rocking my Nexus 5 (of course!) while The Wife is still loving the 64GB iPhone I bought her last October. My Nexus 7 has several cracks in it and the digitizer is starting to fail in certain corners (thanks to my adorably rambunctious little 3 year old). My T-Mobile G1 is carrier unlocked, rocking Android 1.0 and serves as a backup phone. I still have my Samsung Chromebook and 5 year old Toshiba. The Toshiba is dual booting Ubuntu 13.10 and Windows 7 Professional (new job requires Windows; excuse me while I yack in the corner, lol)...

Might be getting a Moto G since my AT&T reception is horrific at work and it might be nice to have clients call me on a work cell instead of my personal. Guess Verizon will always find a way to get my money...

I should be getting to bed... Miss you all...roll call...

Anyone else I forgot is because I have a bad memory and am on Tapa, so I can't easily skim through the pages of this thread to lift names for said roll call...

Love you all!

Edit: jhawk...totally forgot to put you in roll call, oops!

Edit 2: Scary Alien! Forgot you, too! Not that you ever show up here, but still...

Thanks y'all!

It is so good to hear from you, brother. Stay close to the Lord. It's a true and real place. Love to ya!!!!!! Let us know when the baby arrives!

Chief, will those work in your Note 3? Thought that had a limit of 64Gb or is that a myth?

Not to step in on Chief, but they always have these arbitrary limits based on what's available at the time.

They aren't going to say "2TB limit" because those don't exist yet. 128GB weren't on the shelves when the N3 came out.

It should work.

Because I don't like at&t either and tmobile/Sprint coverage isn't great here.

Looks like we are getting at least 8" of snow this coming Sunday into Monday.

Really? Sprint? Because they started before 1900 I would assume that they have the best coverage everywhere in the US. Well, that's a bummer.

^ Thanks, great listen/watch. :)

Morning everyone. Just stopping by to see how everyone is doing. Not quite as lively in here as it once was.

As for Verizon...I grew to hate them so much I paid my ETF and left. Went back to AT&T. Better coverage eventhough the LTE isn't as widespread yet. I actually had enough dropped calls on my line that I talked Verizon out of the ETF on my line and just had to pay my wife's. Eventhough Verizon's LTE coverage is better, their voice network still lags behind AT&T. Sure, the faster data is great, but this is a phone we are talking about afterall. I can deal without data in areas but not voice.

Now they are saying 12"+ of snow, but still a possibility of not so much. Weather forecasters are so annoying.

Haha, snow forecasts are horrible. In the last 4 years I've seen everything from nothing predicted at all, driving to work and getting stuck (30 minute drive) to 4"+ predicted with school being called off and nothing happen. Couple of weeks ago we were only predicted to get a dusting and got 4".

The first scenario was the worst I've seen in meteorology though. Wife and I get up and start heading towards work (opposite directions). I make it to work fine and gave no thought to any weather. Wife called after I got there saying she was stuck and caught in a snowstorm. I thought she was joking. She wasn't. Weathermen had predicted light rain that morning and temps near 40. By the time I got to our house, which was halfway to where she got stuck, I had already had to slow down and put it in 4-Hi. Stopped at my house and got 200 lbs of bagged sand and put in the bed of the truck. Took me 2 hours to get to my wife from there. Less than 20 miles.

Predicting lake effect snow is even less of an exact science. Your town could get 4 inches of snow while the neighboring town can get 12+ inches; all potentially in a few hours.

In android related news, it looks like Glass should be getting it's Kit Kat update in the near future. This should bring some much needed relief to it the smoothness and battery life, I hope.

I don't get? I look at the front page of Phandroid and they have a story about Best Buy selling a 32gb 2012 Nexus 7 for $159 and Opinion piece and a rooted Nokia X, but not one story about what could be a game changing phone with Project Ara.
