Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hey, the thread still exists! :)
It was suggested I stop in for a bit of help. Still on the G2 running a pretty stock 5.0 ROM and yesterday I just started noticing my battery tanking. Well, turns out to be a wakelock coming from NFC Services. This had never been an issue as this ROM has broken NFC so I didn't use (and honestly, don't need it). I can't find good advice on how to deal with this wakelock. I've read about backing up and deleting the nfc.apk but I can't find it in Root Explorer. If anyone has any advice, it'd be appreciated. :D

Thanks, Pup. Looks like there was an update to the ROM so I'll try flashing that (go all FR as well) and see if it fixes it. Still trying to squeeze more life out of this phone which has been great for me. Wife has moved on to the Moto X '14 (with the football back no less!) and she's digging it. We finally gave up Unlimited from VZW which we didn't need anyway and she's on Edge for the phone. I'm seriously eyeing the S6 Edge if/when I decide to upgrade (depending on G4). It's some nice hardware but I hope TW can be pared down a bit.
Anyway, just looking to say hi! Nearing the end of training for my first marathon (Shamrock, in Virginia Beach) and it's been a chore getting outside to run in this stupid weather. DC just got another 4-5" of snow yesterday and it's not going anywhere until next week.

Hey Bread! How's it baking? ;)

Is that updated rom still 5.0 or have they moved it to 5.01 which I think took care of some power issues (Not specifically with the G2 but maybe).

Good luck with the marathon. As with pup, running was never my thing. I used to ride centuries in my younger days ... and have the road rash scars to prove it. :D Ah, but that was probably before you were born. :p

The ROM is 5.0.1 based. I tried flashing the update (it was 5.0.2) and it was just a flurry of problems so I reverted back.
Installed Wakelock Detector and it's not seeing anything about NFC. But, NFC is again showing up in battery stats. It's not a huge power suck, but it is annoying.

Are you sure it's plugged in? :p

I figured you tried that, Bread, but sometimes the obvious answer is the obvious answer. :)

Hi guys and gals!

Wow, this thread is STILL going?

Things are pretty cool in the Chief world. I have a 30-year reunion with my old crew from the telecommunications station in Naples, Italy in a few weeks and then next month our 1985-1990 crew from my first ship will meet in Nashville for yet another reunion.

Taking the Darling Bride to see Kenny G tonight. She LOVES Kenny G, so I splurged on Founder's Box seats (right over the stage) and a VIP reception before the show with wine, chocolates and an art exhibit. We'll get all dolled up and hit Nashville decked out for a romantic evening ;)

Hope you're having a great week. Just 4 short months left until the Note 5 comes out!
