None of that, LOL. I do want to get the black decal for the hood. I did get the front windows tinted to match the rest. Also thinking of getting the wheels from the Trailhawk edition and putting them on my Limited for a more aggressive look

Things are pretty cool in the Chief world. I have a 30-year reunion with my old crew from the telecommunications station in Naples, Italy in a few weeks and then next month our 1985-1990 crew from my first ship will meet in Nashville for yet another reunion.

Taking the Darling Bride to see Kenny G tonight. She LOVES Kenny G, so I splurged on Founder's Box seats (right over the stage) and a VIP reception before the show with wine, chocolates and an art exhibit. We'll get all dolled up and hit Nashville decked out for a romantic evening ;)

My thoughts too about the thread Chief! I'm itching to get a Note, but I'm going to try to be patient for 3-4 months and wait for the Note 5. Just keeping my fingers crossed that it has a removable battery and micro SD.

Well, I had high hopes for the Note 5, but with rumors abounding that Samsung will forego the microSD slot and removable battery, it looks more & more like a dog of a release... at least as far as development is concerned. I'm now waiting for the One Plus 2 to be revealed on the 27th of July. Granted, Verizon won't carry it: but now that T-Mo has solid 4G LTE in our area, we're VERY tempted to tell Verizon to pack it. And we're willing to give up 4 lines of unlimited data (at $9.95/mo per line) to do it. And with Windows 10 about to hit at roughly the same time, I'm even mulling a move to a Windows phone.

Android isn't what it used to be, folks. It used to be the wild west... everything went, anything could be modified. Now, it seems like the axis of Google, the manufacturers and the carriers is locking it down, making it increasingly difficult to root and ROM. I'm frankly tired of watching Android turn into the very closed ecosystem it was designed to compete against.

What about you? Is Android wearing you thin, too? What devices or OSs are you looking into?
 
I hear you, Chief, but I don't really think the alternatives are much better. MS is talking a good game, but the Windows phones I've seen are all still pretty much a metro-fest, and iOS ... well it's the same old song with just a few more instruments in the band.

As development goes on, there have been fewer reasons for me to root and/or rom the latest Nexii, although i still do. Maybe just because I still can. I did like the One+ but aren't they going a little more proprietary since their falling out with CM?
 
They are. They will use OxygenOS, which is essentially a skinned Android build. I can live with that.

On a related subject, does anyone here know if Verizon closed the loophole allowing us to sell our accounts to someone else? I imagine my plan - as is - would be worth quite a lot!

Still on Sprint. Still on HTC. Still as easy to unlock the bootloader as ever. Still haven't had to go near Safestrap or anything like it. Still not locked into anything but high performance and long battery life (even without root). Still enjoying more root options than ever before. Enjoying higher security than ever before without being laden with enterprise level Knox as a consumer.

Root-friendly carriers and root-friendly manufacturers because it'll feel better when you stop trying to make do with exploits.

Welcome back to the side of truth and justice, Chief, I think that you're going to find Android is still open and doing fine.

Hello Chief!

Two tips for you.

1. I almost jumped from VZW to T-Mo. I suggest doing what I did - buy a pay as you go T-Mo Sim for your VZW phone and check coverage and speed. For $50, I discovered that despite the maps, there was zero coverage in my two critical areas.

2. Read the fine print. T-Mo's "unlimited" data is capped and then kicks down to really slow data. Still "unlimited" but only some of it is fast. At least that's how it read when I tried it.

^^^exactly. I tested both T-Mo and AT&T via Net10. T-Mo rocked at work, but I was only 2G at home. I have full LTE at home and work with AT&T.
