Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Y'all always have good suggestions. Is there a best place to sell a laptop? I have a loaded top of the line Toshiba 2-in-1 (laptop with detachable screen/tablet). Less than a year old. Where can I sell it or are Craig's List and eBay the way to go? TIA

So... I posted my laptop on Craigslist, and within an hour I had three buyers. The only problem was that they all were "out of town on business," wanted to pay the full asking price plus they offered extra for shipping to a son or relative, and wanted to pay via "guaranteed" PayPal. Lol, if I could only figure a way to scam the scammers.

Sounds like fun, but I have the Star Wars Despecialized Trilogy here at home and there is no venue anywhere near me showing it. When I was stationed in Bahrain, we actually ran the trilogy back-to-back-to-back in the base theater. It was well received. Have fun, Treo, but I can't see me driving 10 hours to see movies I have right here :)

Not if you keep reviving it! :p

Well, folks, let's see: I went from Ginny the Galaxy Nexus to Gina the Note 3; and then to Alicia the Note 4 DE; and then Maxine the Moto X Pure Edition; now I'm with Jeanette the Galaxy Note 7. I figure we'll all have chips in our heads some day and still be posting into this thread!

I hope you're all doing well! :)

Wow it's been so so so long and this thread is active..jeez...i can't remember where I lived or which ex girlfriend I was with in my galaxy nexus days...but hey glad to see this still here.

What's up Halon?

You know. The usual. Got married for the second time back in June. And just working and living.

Been on the Pixel since release. The Pixel XL 2 looks promising but not happy about no headphone jack. I got excited about that Ultra Pixel that turns out is more than likely fake. I've also had thoughts I've getting an iPhone 8, for something different.

Congrats on the nuptials. :)

Well, for me life is just baseball all the time. Evan has played in nearly 40 games since spring and I've been coaching all of them. Nothing exciting on the phone front for me. After the GNex I went to a Moto X Developer, then into a phone testing frenzy. All low end to mid range Android, but heavy chinese bloated stuff. I'm still using one of those while I wait for some phone to catch my fancy.

Resurrecting the old forum and the Brain Trust that it is and always will be. Hello Chief, Early Mon and other mods! 😁

Need your advice (and yes, I can post this elsewhere if I can figure out where).

Our Malibu neighborhood burned up. Our house is one of a few left. 80% are gone, so we are miraculously lucky. And we will be without all utilities and cell service for months, probably. It looks like a Martian war zone.

I can not operate my business without internet. I have a generator for power, but all the neighborhood poles carrying power, fiber optic cable (vzw) or cable (spectrum) got fried. The poles are down and the cables burned up.

Does anyone know how to get internet temporarily without a phone line, cell service, fiber or cable? Last I checked, DirecTv satellite internet was real expensive and required a substantial investment in hardware. And I think the upload still went via phone line.

I asked TMobile for a COWs or COLTs disaster tower temporarily but they don't reply.

I'm no expert (other than hating on VZW and Spectrum) so all advice is appreciated, including suggestions on where else to post.

Thanks.

I wish I had something to offer but I don't. I am very sorry for the destruction of your community... Very sorry.

Feel free to post your search for internet service in the Android Lounge as well @IHateMyTreo . Perhaps between the two areas someone will have something positive for you. Best of luck.

Thanks all. Wanted to report that satellite internet is just plain bad. Maybe ok for sending and receiving less than 1K. But anything more than that will get jammed up... and forget about sending because the upload speed is worse than dial up. For me, the worst part was trying to use VOIP or calling apps. There is a huge delay because your voice has to beam up and then down, resulting in delays as well as echos.

I bought pizza for one of the line crews working the poles, so when they got close they connected my drop (not their job) so FiOS just got restored!

Relatively speaking, I am grateful on so many fronts.
