Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Talking to a dev right now about the issue -- hopefully I get stuff to test.

I will keep you all posted if I hear anything over at XDA regarding this though.

If we can help in some way I'd certainly be willing to be a guinea pig or provide info about my phone. We quite possibly have the largest captive audience of Gnex owners in the country on this board, might as well put that to use. ;)

BTW also not to sound like I am on a high horse or anything, but anyone else notice the lack of search in the GNex section now. I've seen 3 LED threads on the same page -- just something that annoys me for whatever reason.

So you are seeing the battery drain issue?

How comfortable are you with ADB commands and would you be willing to root? Those are the only requirements he told me he needs to get this looked into more.

I will be providing him with data tonight, but I figure the more data he has the more definitive we can be on this.

Thanks guys, I'll look into those apps to turn on/off my phone and sms at specific times.

Regarding my post, I got Active Sync to run, by tweaking the server name and user name a bit.

Verizon says it WILL NOT pull all the old or sent mail off my hosted exchange like my blackberry would do, and the process seems to take a while, think 1-2 hours to get 2 weeks of mail, so have patience when you start your sync.

Hosted exchange is an abolute data whore for me, 106 MB in 1 days use, so best get your unlimited plan ready unless the exchange slows way down since it has "most of the mail" already. She recommended "touchdown" if I have issues.

I was also worried I didn't see 3g or 4G anywhere on the display screen and VZon says they WONT DISPLAY if you are connected to your WI-Fi Network, which I am.

Since I'm a nerdling hanging around my house today, I can verify this later if I get out and have to change underwear once a week, like before AF.

Just thought I'd fill you in on what I found.

Either I'm on everybodies **** List or my phone is very quiet. The berry was chirping and beeping all the time with emails or texts.

Must have honked everybody off when I had to pepper spray you all, to get the last nexus yesterday!

I'm interested in this myself. Here's what I've found so far...

British SKU: EDD-D1F2BEGSTD
USA SKU (SUPPOSED): EDD-H1F8BEG OR EDD-H1F8BEGSTA
Old article citing the dock
Site that has it for pre-order (I have no idea if this company is any good)
Also, here it is on Amazon UK

Good Morning Gnexers! :D

Does anyone here have a link to a horizontal dock for the Nexus? Verizon had the vertical docks in the system, but no horizontal docks. Right now I'm using a photo frame to prop up Ginny at my bedside. That's a temporary fix (I hope)...

I definitely want to get more into the root/unlocking game this time around. I'm a developer by trade, just not mobile.

I'm having problems getting fastboot devices to show my GNEX. ADB devices is showing fine.

I downloaded the fastboot.exe as directed by droid-life, but "fastboot devices" is coming up empty. Any advice?

Exynos?? What?

"Cracking Open the Samsung Galaxy Nexus: 1.2GHZ Samsung Exynos 4210 processor (CMC221 NAA969.00A-1 B1139 ARM)"

Searching CMC221 brings up the LTE radio used in the Charge (by Samsung) and the other two details of that chip don't bring up any search results.

Don't believe this is an Exynos though.

I'm not confident in my ability to root it myself yet but if I need to learn to be able to help I could probably manage.

And you don't sound like you're on a high horse. I know we are all much more tolerant of questions being asked more than once but I do agree that it seems some people aren't even looking, let alone searching. *sigh*

Try this.

I had the same issue, and had a unknown device in Device Manager called Android 1.0 -- here is what I did.

I went to Properties > Update Driver. Navigated until it let me pick the driver myself and then I went to ADB devices. You should see Google (Motorola?) and Samsung. Choose Samsung and then choose the one dated 11/25/2011 -- that should install the correct driver and then the device should be recognized in bootloader mode.

Let me know if that helps / makes sense. Not sitting in front of computer right now so hard for me to remember exactly. Also try looking through the comments on Droid Life about the bootloader unlock, some helpful stuff in there.

Any idea how to create a folder, to hide your games, applications, etc?

Hmmm, daughter unit seems to be figuring it out as we speak

How do you clear the battery stats? I noticed the stay awake too. It does seem to be about the same time I had Light Flow installed. I uninstalled and want to see if that stopped it but I cannot clear the stats. However it has not increased since I removed it.

Conversation with a friend of mine who has an old flip phone:

me: pumped its friday
really looking forward to tweaking my new phone all weekend
him: lol
him: The phone obsession
really looking forward to tweaking my new phone all weekend
me: lol ok.. so when you get a new gadget, you dont spend time messing with it?
you let it sit and gather dust for a week or two before using it?
or what
him: Its a phone man
It makes phone calls
me: hahahah

He just doesn't understand...

Just got my phone this morning so no idea yet (still charging the battery). Haven't done anything with ADB, but willing to learn, and yes, willing to root. I'm sure others here would be willing to help as well if it means we get a better performing phone.

Can't be Exynos IMO. My MKVs skip in in MX Player HW mode (Even though the Nexus was supposed to have H.264 hardware decode).

I wonder if the headphone jack on the desktop dock will have a mic input. That'd come in handy for using the phone with a multi-track recording app.

had this problem last night before unlocking and rooting..."waiting for device message".. Android 1.0 will appear in Device Manager AFTER you run adb reboot bootloader. Once you see that, navigate through and manually add your SAMSUNG Android Phone device driver ("Let me pick") - should be dated 11-25. This is the driver you downloaded from Samsung.

download link to samsung driver...

Samsung

probably doesn't need to said but just in case fastboot and ADB are in the same folder correct?

What's up Nexicans? I keep pressing the non-existant power button at the top of the phone.

Yup. I do that too. AND I keep looking at the camera on the top thinking it's the notification light and wondering why no one loves me anymore. Then I remember its the camera, and still have no love. Lol.

Weird, i just had a call and was trying to get a contacts number while on speakerphone. It automatically mutes the call when I go into my contacts while on speaker. Anyone else notice this?

I'm also having a problem assigning ringtones to contacts. Last night I assigned a few but now it won't let me anymore, it keeps going back to default.
