Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Anyone else have there NFC toggles/beam toggles greyed out and unavailable? What might cause this? I have unlocked BL and rooted and added recovery. I am wondering if I need to relock BL to get that back??

Same thing here. I tried it and even in what I would consider LOW light conditions, face unlock worked. I turned it off today though because I realized how silly it was to pick up my phone and look in the mirror every time I wanted to unlock it. I hate looking at myself, lol.

You have once again confirmed to me that you are an engineer ;)

Anyone care to elaborate on where to find this "FX Booster" Haven't been able to find it on mine.

It's a sound effects setting in your equalizer in music app. Google music>play a song>make sure your on large album art screen>top right corner 3 dots settings> sound effects

Through and through. :D Looking back through my childhood, my parents have said more than once..."Well, it all makes sense now" lol!

Same here. My parents have so many stories that they used to tell to embarass me in high school, but now as a practicing engineer, I am proud of my early exploits ;)

Is this something that could potentially be fixed by software? Is volume equally low on speakerphone or playing music?

Depends on the speaker hardware. A patch would only be viable if the power to the speaker can be increased without going beyond its tolerances and causing distortion, buzzing, etc. People are trying to make adjustments with MusicFX/FX Booster which is some equalizing software built into the Nexus. Others are using Volume+, successfully and not. Playing music/videos via the main speaker is where the deficiency lies. All's well with earphones, and I haven't really any complaints about the earpiece volume during a call. But ringtones would also be an issue. at least one reviewer said he was missing phones calls because he couldn't hear the phone ring even at max volume. Although some have said that the default Nexus ringtones are low in volume themselves. I tried an mp3 ringtone and it was a bit louder. Played a video on youtube that I listen to regularly and found myself trying to raise the volume when it was already maxed out.

Sadly (but more happily) not, things took quite a turn yesterday morning, I found out I was becoming a Dad :D, so with priorities needing to be set straight I did not get the wifey a GN just myself. She said she could wait and thinks the GN is too large for her.
Congrats on the great news!! :D

Well, there is that Universal Rom that's posted in the Root section. It's supposed to be a huge help with battery life (supposedly) and make things a bit smoother. It's using a custom kernel.

I'm not sure I want to go fiddling with that quite yet, until Google releases a few more updates and things get a bit more evened out. I'd hate to flash a ROM on it so soon and miss out on an important update.

Already unlocked, rooted and with a recovery here. Will just wait for a recovery of the new releases, but think most will hit for me anyhow as I haven't loaded any special roms.

And I'm the opposite, lol. I can actually feel the difference in weight and thinness now that I swapped it out for my standard battery and door. I like the little hump at the bottom.

Hah. I did notice the weight diff, but I like a heavier phone anyhow. I find this is so light almost throw it out of my hand too easy while handling it with one hand. I like weighty stuff when it's gonna be well under a pound regardless. Don't really notice any difference in thinness, but I find all the new phones TOO thin to grip correctly. That's what had me tempted with the Rezound as it isn't too thin. I have decided though that 5.3" like the Note COULD still work one handed for me, but would be more of a don't have another hand free option. The 4.65" and narrower aspect of this phone makes it right at the limit for one handed operation. Particularly because of the fact stupid google has decided to move the menu drop down to the to right of lots of stuff like goofs. I'm left handed so this may not be such a big deal for others.

3 kids at 27? Wow...you got busy early, lol. I'll be 28 in June and have no kiddos.....yet. Actually looking forward to it though after playing with neices over the past couple of years.
