Hmm, haven't read too much about the leaked radios but have heard some mixed results about em. I'll give TuneIn a shot and see how it works out.

I stream XM, Tune In and Pandora. None have ever closed. XM sometimes makes me re-log in when it looses signal...annoying. The other two just pick back up if they drop out because of a signal. What I have noticed is that it seems to occur when handing off between towers, particularly from LTE to 3g.

I have no experience with 4G (I'm surrounded but it isn't here yet:mad:) but I do know that the 3G / WIFI switch off went from ~30-60 seconds to a near instantaneous 1-2 seconds. It only takes TuneIn ~3-5 seconds to pick up the stream on switchover. This isn't to say anything about tunein, but to say what improvements I saw with the leaked radios.

I use pandora and have noticed less than stable behavior compared to my TB. But this is on 3G, so I am not sure how much signal strength and type is involved.

On another note, I got another random reboot last night. This time the phone was just sitting there, as I was doing my taxes (>$3000 refund, woot!, 3rd child FTW). I wonder how big the next update for us is going to be.
 
Finally got around to "flashing Tuesday" (my day off and day for new ROMs/kernels). Just booted up AOKP 21 and Franco 15 kernel. Man this puppy is flying! First time using a Franco kernel but I had to given all the praise I'm hearing around here.

I see where Motorola folks are mad because they're releasing a "developer edition" Razr and their Razrs still aren't unlocked and may not be. A couple of words of advice they should have followed.

1.) Never buy a device based on promises from a company that they aren't legally bound to. (and even then be wary)

2.) If you want to buy a developer phone, buy a Nexus.

If you ever want to try 13.1 let me know. A lot of us have found it to be 'the sweet spot'

Agreed, but nonetheless I still signed the petition as a loyal OG Droid owner. If Moto had made the current Nexus, I'd be all over it. At least HTC has made due on their "promises".

The OG was great. Loved the phone while it worked. Found the battery to greatly decrease in performance after a year. However, as far as being a developer phone, it was great. Very open and lots of support, just like it's shaping up for the Nexus.

Haven't read the exact details (yeah, I'm lazy :rolleyes:), but the governors are built into the kernels. I thought the app was for easy updates to the kernel without having to get into recovery and flash? Correct me if I'm wrong.

And I thought it was just so you'd know right away there was a new version. I don't see how a kernel could be installed without flashing it.

I was waiting for M3 too....last Saturday broke down to install 21. I had really good battery with M2 and lean, and still trying to get back to that level with AOKP21 and lean 1.8exp3 today....I was definitely impressed with how stable M2 was....saved my nandroid just in case.....
Gonna give this setup a couple of days...see how it works.
May try Franco if I don't get the battery I was hoping for with this set. Since yesterday I had to charge just to get through the work day.

M builds are Milestone builds, so theoretically are more stable. They don't have as much experimental stuff going on in them. M3 seems to be a little different. Has features in it that Build 21 doesn't even have. I imagine performance tweaks have been tested thoroughly though so that's why it's a milestone build. So I guess I'll flash again tonight.

Sounds like a night of nandroid and flashing to me. I got a patch for the battery in the theme I'm using now that I have to flash later too.
I'm on b21 as well and don't plan on going M3. I like nightlies.

Yikes is right. In that same test, they pegged the Gnex at 6.5 hours (9 hours for the original Droid RAZR).

FWIW, here's some fun with math. Comparing HD vs. qHD, the Gnex has 78% more pixels than the RAZR. (1280x720)/(960x540)

But the RAZR lasts 38% longer. (9/6.5)

And that's not accounting for the screen area difference to illuminate.

So, in absolute terms, the RAZR and now the Maxx are real winners.

But in relative terms, the Gnex is still highly efficient for an HD display. :)
 
And considering the Maxx is STILL thinner than the Nexus is a bit disappointing. I hope other manufacturers utilize whatever ninja technology Moto is on the upcoming 4G phones.
