Morning all! Just put a roast in the slow cooker, yum.

So anyone have any interesting weekend plans? I am home alone with the baby, as my wife takes the older two to Daytona for the annual girls weekend at the beach.

Morn Anti. Not much planned for us. I HAVE to get a new dresser as mine is literally in pieces :o.
Also, I think we'll see Prometheus and see what all the secretive hulabaloo is all about. :D

Morning! What time shall we all be there for dinner? :D Busy weekend on tap here. Graduation party tomorrow for my foster daughter and my best friends two kids who graduated last night. Then Saturday, my friend and I are taking the kids down to Myrtle Beach for beach week and staying overnight, coming home on Sunday. Yes, I am fully aware that it sounds over-protective and completely "uncool" for parents to drive their kids to beach week. However, a) our kids actually WANT us to come, and b) neither of us have complete confidence in the ability of either of the girls to drive that far and arrive at their destination in one piece.

Congrats to your foster daughter. I'm on vacation next week for the final push in the yard. My step son, Ryan's' graduation party is a week from Saturday.

Gooooood morning and happy Friday eve. This week went by super fast - so glad tomorrow is Friday.

Probably just hanging around NJ this weekend - nothing terribly exciting. Did a lot of packing for the new apartment yesterday. Made a lot of progress - just need to start taking some more furniture apart, but it seems a bit early to do that so we're gonna wait til the beginning of next week to do so.

Also - go Devils! One game at a time.

Good morning all! I'm pleased to report that ALL of my backups ran successfully last night... the first time in a few weeks. All server are backed up and that's a good thing. I also had a meeting with some consultants yesterday about what's required for Meaningful Use, at least on the IT side. I'm definitely going to have my work cut out for me over the coming months!

Spousal Unit is in Myrtle Beach this week (She left Monday) and I will be joining her tomorrow. I am not allowed to take any vacation for the first 6 months but the office is letting me cut out 1/2 day tomorrow. I'll be heading to Myrtle Beach to join her just as soon as I can sneak out of here. ;) I'll be there just a little longer then you Dawnierae, but it's still going to be a whirlwind weekend. Drive down Friday afternoon, have all day Saturday, and most of the day Sunday. It's about a 4 hour drive for me so I'll leave around dinnertime on Sunday, get home around 10:00 PM, crash, and back to work on Monday. I'm excited!

Yum, I love using the slow cooker!

I actually do have fun weekend plans for once - my family is throwing a big party this weekend, my two younger sisters are graduating from college and high school, respectively. Very proud of them. :) People are flying in from all over the country, it's going to be great.

I forgot how much I enjoy baking. I'm making cookies for a bake sale for the school and I love the process of mixing the batter and the smell of the house while the cookies are baking. :)

Hi Everybody!

Hi Chief! :p

Wow, some great graduates coming out of Gnexers this year! Great job Dawnierae! WOO HOO!

I may as well brag on mine too:

My daughter's public high school had her loaded down with SEVEN honors and advanced classes, even though she only required two courses to graduate. In fact, AP Calculus was so overwhelming for her, taking up all her time and energy, that she had little time to devote to those last two requisite classes.

So we went to the school. We begged, pleaded and bargained. They wouldn't BUDGE, saying that once she was in an AP or honors class she would NOT come out of it for any reason... and that the state required her to attend seven classes a day. BABYSITTING!

I remember when I was in high school I just went to the classes I needed and then left. Those days are apparently no more: now it's mandatory that every kid stay all day. Back to the drama:

So Athena turned 18 and had an ace up her sleeve. She went BACK to the school and threatened to DROP OUT if they didn't work with her. They called her bluff, almost laughing. An honors student? Dropping out? With only 6 months to go to graduate? HA!

She said "Screw you people" in typical fine Navy fashion and - to the shock and amazement of the school officials - dropped out.

Immediately Athena enrolled into home school, transferred all her records and transcripts, and completed the final two courses ON HER OWN. And received her home school diploma a month ahead of her contemporaries:

So there's our story of a good girl gone bad gone better.

:D

EDIT: And she still managed a 3.7 GPA. We'll take that any day :)

Yeah, I was loaded down too, took a total of 9 AP courses in HS. I was an over-achiever. :p they also had the requisite course thing, and they used all that to calculate final GPA for graduation. It actually caused a bit of controversy

the week of graduation, because the entire year we all knew who was going to be Valedictorian, (she had one more honors course than me, and I got a B in one of mine) well turns out those requisite courses trumped the extra honors course of hers, and my B dropped, so we were co-Valedictorian. She was pissed, and so were her parents, and they apparently called as high as the superintendent to get it stripped from me. The principal was mortified, and once the superintendent denied their request, called me to his office and apologized for their behavior. And before I left he gave me a wry smile and said "it gives me no small satisfaction that when two students are tied, they walk in alphabetical order." my last name started with B, hers was N ;-)

Busy day for us, it's our last day in Dallas, getting ready to go with Hubby, Dad, brother and sister in law to see my Aunt for lunch then we are heading out this afternoon to go back to North Carolina. Our destination is our cabin on the ridges of Mt Mitchell. Our house at the beach is full of summer vacationers and will be through August. We have had a great week busy with family and graduation activities. Very proud of my brother and his wife for raising two great kids.

You'll end up with about a day more than me. Hope you enjoy! It's about a 5 hour drive for us, so I plan to get a lot of bang for the buck while I'm there. :D

Congratulations on not one, but TWO graduates!

What ARE those? They look yummy!

Thanks, Chief, and may I say...I freaking LOVE that story! Good for Athena!! I hope she carries that "I'm not gonna do something stupid just because you say I have to" attitude with her throughout her entire life. People will try to knock her down, but it sounds like she has the self confidence to take a punch and then deliver the knock-out. You and the darling bride have clearly done something right.

:D I would have had to do a "neener neener neener" at her parents as I walked across the stage.

AP courses here work differently...Tatiana took several AP courses, but did not have to take all 7 classes as AP. And if she hadn't needed the credits for her advanced diploma, she would not have had to stay for the entire day. Her school does that stupid block schedule, though, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyone know if the VZW galaxy S3 will have the same radio as the nexus? I may be able to overlook the MTP / windows 7 driver issues, but not the radio problems.

Nope, radios are integrated on S4 chip. GNex has OMAP 4460 processor, so couldn't integrate. Radios SHOULD be better on S3

We will, don't worry. I hope you do as well! Too bad you won't be there on Friday night as Jen and I are going to Mellow Mushroom to eat dinner (my favorite place) and then we're heading to Fat Tuesday's for an adult beverage or three at Broadway at the Beach. Would have been happy to buy you and your friend a drink while we made fun of my wife's iSheep phone. :p
