Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I had only been there 11 months. So I wouldnt have qualified. i heard about this on the free beer and hotwings show where someone blasted some pregnant woman about maternal leave. It was great information non the less and thank you. I think more parents should look in to this especially if they value their family over their job.

My boss swore to me when I was hired that family comes before job at any costs, and it has been proven to me over the past nine years, from when my 2 daughters were born to when I had some self inflicted mental health issues to now.

If a company cared enough, they would make exceptions and concessions to the law/policy, as they should understand that family should at all times supercede work. Especially when the wife has surgery, as that is what a C section is. Recovery time is dependent upon the individual, which is a common thing. My wife had 2 vaginal deliveries and I still took 2 weeks off to allow her to heal and recovery time, but I also had vacation time/sick time and 6+ years to compensate for it.

Morning everyone!
Well the Today show segment about the Apple lawsuit was pretty short. Interested to see how it goes forward. One of the patents that they claim Samsung ripped off is the "bounce back" feature in homescreens or app drawer..... but what about all the third party launchers who added this in back in Froyo when it wasn't part of stock Android?

Morning Dread. Yeah, I have decided just to ignore the lawsuit, not worth even following it IMO, just gonna be appealed and dragged out.

Plus Isaac has my attention at the moment. Following another blog/forum (wunderground's Masters blog). While the data there is good, makes me glad I am over here most of the time, as there is little control of comments over there, people go at each other pretty hard. I keep thinking to myself, I would report you, and you, and you.

Morning all....been an absolutely crazy week. Thank goodness I was not on the jury for AvS!!! But the jury is still out on the case that I was on, and since I am an alternate, I am still waiting for word that I am actually done.

A quick update on my job stuff...apparently, even though the job officially ends on Dec 31, we do have to notify our manager by about the beginning of October on whether we will be moving to Austin, TX or not. Considering the wedding is 9/22, we are having to make life altering choices pretty quickly.
Anyone live in or near Austin and have any suggestions on neighborhoods to be looking in for rentals or buying?
Its pretty hard to imagine that we will be able to afford to stay in Santa Barbara, where we are now, if either of us is without a job, so we are taking this a little bit more seriously. We do have friends in LA, that have offered to help us get jobs down there, so we are still keeping our options open....
Thanks for letting me vent. We are about lost in all this!!!

I have to say, its no Santa Barbara, but Austin is supposed to be one of the best cities in America as far as amenities go. and a LOT cheaper to live too.

Just about anywhere else in the US is cheaper than Santa Barbara!
Have a few friends who live in Austin and they all love it... if you can stand the heat! I'd love to visit as it sounds like a pretty hip town, but would never want to live in Texas. Wish you luck, Ryan. :)

Off to my niece's wedding. You know when they ask if anyone objects to this? Yeah, I wanna be the one that does. I'm pretty sure there are few others too.

Sorry to hear that. Every family has plenty of drama (mine's fairly drama free except for a few). Can't control everyone, but at least there will be free food and booze? :o:D

Good luck! I look back at mine and wish the dissenters had spoken up. Proof in numbers. Maybe seeing that many people disagree would have given me the courage to say "you're right, this is a bad idea"

So took my morning walk here at work, and spotted a copperhead just off the path. Fun. Too bad I left my phone at my desk or I would have taken a picture for yall.

And to top it off...the cake is in the shape of and decorated like a snuff can. And the guys are wearing camo shorts and shirts that have the sleeves cut off. Talk about ridiculous.

I love love love the trash the dress pics. I always said if I did it again I'd want to do that. If you find the right photographer the shots are amazing!

I'm guessin' the guy looks like this?

And here are some other classic wedding photos. I preface this by saying I am NOT ridiculing these people. To each his/her own. After all, we got married in matching bowling shirts at a bowling alley, so we cannot judge. Everyone is different and "strange" is in the eye of the beholder. And a few of these are NSFW.

Somebody here uses the term "wifey" as I recall, but sprayed on your butt, I just don't know

And why the ducks?
