Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Looks like really good deals Halon. I think Google is ready to start competing with Apple in a big way with those options.

Slow down: why Google's new Nexus 4 doesn't have LTE | The Verge

Ironically, Verizon's LTE network runs on 700MHz "C Block" spectrum which has FCC "open access" rules attached to it, which require that any compatible device be allowed to connect. Google fought vociferously to put these rules in place, even participating in the FCC's spectrum auction to ensure Verizon paid the minimum bid price that triggered the rules. But the rules have turned out to be virtually meaningless in practice, as Verizon uses 700MHz in conjunction with CDMA spectrum that doesn’t have similar open access rules — so while Verizon might be legally required to support an unlocked LTE device, the legacy CDMA network still effectively keeps all of Verizon’s phones locked.

The daughter (16 yrs old), alone in her dorm in West Village NYC, says that so far it looks "normal" outside with some gusts.

Told her to stay inside :). Fully provisioned for the inevitable power failure. She is in Evac Area C, so hopefully they will stay put. Nothing like trusting your kid to 20-year-old RA's

They aren't going to be able to go too far anyway - the city is shut down except for cabs and my brother said even those are a bit sparse today. (He is in the city until public transportation gets opened again - works for Fox 5 radio and always gets stuck when the weather gets bad)

I understand how they want to make it as standardized as possible (available on the most amount of networks). Just a bummer as I definitely couldn't handle a 3G phone again. Hear HSPA+ is decent, but don't think I can move from VZW.

Bummer, well it is what I expected. Google's experience with Verizon and the Galaxy Nexus will prevent another Nexus on Verizon until they switch over to VoLTE completely, which is years away. :(

Yeah, I am not thrilled Sandy bumped up to 90mph here today, that starts to hit the area that structures get damaged due to wind, and the storm surge is another 2 feet higher... Will be watching and praying...

Dumb question, could Photo Sphere be merely software restricted and come to other phones? That does look really cool. :)

I haven't seen anything yet that answers that. I imagine we will have it soon.

After seeing the latest video on the Nexus4 I would get it. But can't because of LTE. I would also like to get the Nexus10 so I could have all 3 Nexus devices. :)

Really interested to find out more about this Miracast stuff. Just bought a brand new tv but doubt it has that capability without a firmware update at least. Wondering if the GNex or N7 is capable?

Tegra 3 is supported for Miracast. I just read an article on Miracast a little bit ago and I can't find it now. Darn it.

I read one on it that said Tegra 3 supports it too, so it's possible for the N7...not sure about the GNex. That's a really awesome feature that goes a step better than DLNA. Really want that.

I live in the middle of PA and we are experiencing a constant 20mph wind that could possibly get up to 60 and there has been a constant rain all day. For those that live on the coast they are talking about an 11ft wall of water...yikes!

Our trees are very very bendy right now. The gusts are pretty strong. But not a lot of rain to go with it. Schools were just closed for tomorrow. The municipal building and library are both open from 8 to 9 for electronic charging for those who lose power. (Not sure it would be safe to drive there by that time tonight but it's a great thing for them to do.)

2 posts about it, geek. I'm guessing you really want it Lol.

Nah, I mean, it's no iPad :p This really is going to cause me to get in trouble with the wife if I'm not careful. I think I could sell the N7, my PS3, hmmm, what else...got to be something else so I could break even on it. If I sell the PS3 I gotta get another $100 so I can buy a blu-ray player to replace it. Maybe I could get $200 for the N7, $250 for the PS3 and games, and then find something to sell for $50.
