Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I wish I could get rid of directv. But too far away to pick up OTA local channels via Antenna.

I am stuck with Time Warner because the winters up here make satellite unreliable, and TWC is the only cable company in town. It results in some Verizon like price gouging. :(

My problem is being in a city. There's a TON of OTA channels broadcasted within 20 miles or less of me but with all the buildings I can't pick up a lot of them (incl PBS which is sent out from maybe 3 miles away). My friend who lives in way upper NW DC can get a ton more. Maybe it's our antenna though.

Good morning all - really humid at work today and feeling a bit under the weather.

I really should have stayed home today, ugh. Hope everyone else had a great weekend.

I would say it's your antenna, Dread. I know you probably can't put the big roof antennas up like I did, but there are some decent omnidirectional indoor ones.

It's an RCA 1915GM. A flat white one we bought a couple years ago from Amazon. Reviews seemed to be positive though I can't find it anymore on there.

A great new gift has been dropped on us: JBSourcery 4.2 :D

No apparent problems with a dirty flash from 4.1... testing continues...

I downloaded last night before crawling into bed. Will flash at some point today or tomorrow. Glad to hear its possible that a dirty flash may work.

Okay, if Gmail works fine but G+ and Talk don't on my Gnex, where's the problem? Can't connect to the server issues.

That's strange. Did you try clearing data and cache on G+ and Talk?

About 40 miles. I know a couple do come in marginally, but we aren't allowed antennas that extend beyond the roofline in our neighborhood.

ROFL! Mine extends 5 feet above the roofline, that's the only way you can get a signal :p I'm a good 50 miles out from the stations but I get 90%+ signal quality according to my TV. Stupid neighborhood rules....I don't know if mine have any regarding antennas. I'm the only one on the street that has one, so they probably do have a rule, lol. If they want it gone, they can take it down themselves :p If it's gonna save me that much per month, they can deal with the unpleasant asthetics.

BB, I've been chatting with Ryan who's a WHOLE lot more knowledgeable than me. ;)
I tried a bunch of stuff even a whole dirty flash. Still not working. :(

If anyone is a movie person, I just found out one of the BEST movie stores just closed:
Takoma Park fixture Video Americain yields to new reality - The Washington Post
We used to live a couple blocks away from there and would go frequently before we got Netflix. It really was a wild store. All the staff were film buffs, they organized all their movies by director and they had a huge inventory of VHS vids! Sad to see them close. :(

Anti, which way does your house face and which direction are the stations from your house? You might even could get away with an attic installation with a signal booster.

Sounds like a problem with the gapps to me. Are you using the signed gapps or a set put together by the dev?

One put by the dev. Possible problem there. Crap, just wiped everything again. TWRP allows you to move apps in right? They have an alt. Gapps I can try.
Edit: Downloading Standard Gapps. Going to mount and push them in in recovery.

ADB, eh. Let's see if I have that installed. I have a setting in TWRP to mount the SD card but it won't enable. Guess I'll just go the long way around, restore the previous nandroid, push the Gapps and start over. :o

I think it's more designed for external cards on other devices, but I could be mistaken.

Good luck Dread.....last time I had to use adb it required 2 (maybe 3) of our fellow Nexians to walk me through it. :o

Yeah, like I said, I'll just load her up again with Standard/signed Gapps. Not sure if that was the problem or the TiBu restore (which they explicitly said NOT to do :o).
Okay, I'll try a dirty flash from 4.0 (my nandroid) and see if that's okay.

House faces away from the stations... Yeah I don't think I could do it as long as my mother-in-law lives with us though. She would freak out if we got rid of "regular" tv.

LOL! I thought you might could get away with putting one on the back of the house below the roofline. The wife isn't happy about losing satellite, but oh well. She's ok with it, just not thrilled. The extra money helps.
