Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

ryan,

That does suck. And yes at times it does feel like we are forgotten. The only saving grace for me has been that it is a nexus, so the developers are here and I haven't had to wait long for things to get to us - software wise (even if Verizon isn't giving it to us).

I am curious to see whether I can show off my 4.2.2 Nexus.. Or not! Lol

Oh well, we will figure something out. Unfortunately in order to get into a lot of the events this week you need a pass.. A $1500 pass. That's a little out of my price range.... So I have to find some of these free events to go to. I am still going to try to get in on some of the fun...

Well here's something new:

I can now beam pictures between my Nexus and my Darling Bride's Galaxy S3! Beams either way now. Maybe that's a Jelly Bean function, or Sammy unlocked that NFC restriction on the S3. Whatever it is, it's awfully nice to have now :)

I decided to try out the stylus I received with my case.

I give you....art. LOL

Well, I downgraded back to the 4.1.1 radios because I started to get data drops while on them. Because of this, I doubt those radios will be in the OTA. If they are, then Verizon

I can't say much: Verizon may be greedy in our opinions and we may know more than most of their reps, but I have never had a problem with their service. When I need Ginny to work, she does. So I'll NOT tell any Verizon jokes.

Plus it doesn't help that they're the only service around here, and I don't want them tracking me down and cutting me off at the end of my contract :P

:D

Interesting that you mention NFC here Chief... Had a AHH HAA moment today with 3 Samsung reps at SXSW today...
I went down town today, first day of SXSW. Wanted to see if I could get into a couple of things without the expensive passes, as there were several events open to the public.

The best resulting event I ended up at was one for Samsung. Unfortunately for me the indoor event was pass only, but they are doing all of this Tec Tile advertising all over town this week. Basically scan your Tec Tile app at restaurants or whatever and get something for free or discount.. But at the event location today they had these kiosks outside... Big sign: The Next Big Thing Is Coming... Scan your Tec Tile here.... So I thought, what the hey, I am going to scan my Nexy, you know for grins.. Although we can't install the Tec Tile app... And it worked. Seriously. I think I was as surprised as the rep that was hanging out nearby... Who called over 2 others while I was talking to him. They told me something must be wrong with the kiosk, so don't count on using the coupons anywhere... But they all wanted to see what ROM I was on, how I liked the phone, and how my VZW service was here... They were all carrying Note 2s....it was rather satisfying to say the least...

Then I went and had a free beer at the restaurant down the road. A free beer that I got when I scanned my phone on the scanner at the bar, using one of the coupons from the kiosk. It was a great day..

Then I came home and took a nap... My wife doesn't really understand why I was so excited when I got home.. But I certainly was!

While I was down there, and the real reason I went, was the first event I went to which was a Google Playground event. They had basketball and an obstacle course set up, a couple of booths with Chromebooks talking about the create groups at the local Google offices... The obstacle course and basketball were set up inside of a cleared out coffee shop... For Google Shoe. Simply a Google connected pedometer-like computer, similar to the Nike etc versions out there.. Tracking steps, course, distance, etc and linking to G+.
The other was Smileage... A Google and VW collaboration, being released in June, basically G+ connected through bluetooth to your phone for VW owners, tracking road trips, fun info and G+ social media. It makes the old slug bug games interactive with other drivers in the area, or connects you to family and friends on G+ while on a road trip or vacation so you can get feedback from them, or if noone else is nearby... The car will give you suggestions based on their programming. That is something I might do... Maybe.

Hearing a story like that reminds how much I wish I lived in a major and not this smaller rinky dink city. I never should have left Pittsburgh. Stupid me! Lol

Does that mean we aren't supposed to be using the 5 1/4s or the zip drives anymore? Shoot, I need to tell a few computers here a new story...
Morning all. Well had a thunderstorm last night... And the dog freaked out. Never really done that before we came to this house. Anyways, I ended up sleeping on the couch so my wife could sleep in the bed... The dog kept jumping on us during the storm. Frustrating and not so comfortable.. But it's over now and sunny. Should be a great day!

I haven't been pulled over in about 9 years. Good guy cop put me down for 60 instead of 76 in a 55 AND no points.
