Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

I use an electric razor, just seems to be easier imo. I use a Phillips Norelco PT730, does a pretty good job I'd say.

I'm direct opposite of you guys. I used electric for years but switched to hand. I use the Gillette Fusion Pro Glide with Nivea Sensitive Skin shaving gel. That combination gets really close and doesn't irritate my skin at all. I found I got razor burn with an electric quite a bit and it didn't get as close. I tried a couple of different ones and it just never was as close as hand.

99% of the time I use this:

Amazon.com: Philips Norelco 1280X/47 SensoTouch 3D Electric Razor with Jet Clean System, Frustration Free Packaging: Health & Personal Care

Yeah yeah, balk at the price... but this thing is astonishing. It feels like wiping a soft cloth over your face and suddenly: no whiskers! Whisper quiet and you can use it wet or dry... doesn't matter.

While the instructions say you can just wash it every day in the automatic washer, I just rinse it out every day and then deep clean/lubricate it in its automatic cleaning thing once a week. The solution lasts longer that way.

I know, I know: I spend $235 on a shaver and then get cheap on the cleaning solution... don't try to figure me out, it's just how I roll :D

Anyway, I had a cheaper Norelco (which was a capable shaver) and this thing just blows it away. I can't recommend this shaver enough.

My 0.02 :)

I'm a razor person, as my stubble looks and feels like copper wire. I have to shave against the grain to get a smooth shave and both my wife and Evan complain with even a bit of scruff.

I've been thinking of going electric for years. And every time I look I always want to get the one Chief has but never end up getting it. So with that said, I use Gillette...the one with around 10 blades. HA

For shaving cream....I use Head Slick. Once in a blue moon I'll shave my head. I liked the stuff so much I decided to use it on my face.

Congrats to Stigy and Geek on the app milestones! Very impressive :)

And for those who don't know ....let's wish our own AntimonyER a happy birthday!!!! Hope its a good one!!!!
Happy birthday Anti!
So on a totally unrelated topic I would like to bring up a discussion that I have been wondering about -- men, do you prefer to use an electric razor or a hand razor (Gillette fusion, etc)?

I have been using a hand razor since I started shaving with a few months of an old electric razor someone had bought me and I remember it being awesome and much easier and convenient to shave with one.

Do you prefer one over the other and why?
I use both - electric first, then a hand razor afterwards to finish the job. Tend to just get crappy electric razors, though I did just make a small investment in a Philips QG3331 Multi-Groom Kit to make trimming my beard easier. Hand razor is usually a Gillette, preferably the Fusion ProGlide.

I have an electric razor but it's pretty terrible even being wet dry. Problem is that my facial hair grows in certain places and this thing can't pick it up. I end up giving a few strokes on the regular razor every few days to clean it up.

I alternate between a safety razor and a straight razor. The safety is the smoothest and easiest shave I've EVER had. I don't even own a disposable anymore and only use the electric when traveling.

Okay, where can one acquire an old school style straight razor? I'm actually looking to use them for scoring bread. Does a place like CVS have them?

Dread:

Go to Amazon and search for Straight Razor. You can even get the sharpening strops - have fun shopping! :)

EDIT: I do still have a razor, mug soap & brush just for those special occasions when I want to be absolutely smooth for a long, long time. So I guess I can say I use both... but that Norelco is my primary.

I'd be hesitant to buy one off of Amazon strictly because there are so many garbage ones (of course there are plenty of decent ones available too).

OR get one with a replaceable blade so you can skip stropping and honing but it defeats the "fun" IMO. But then again it may be perfect for your wants/needs. :) I'm not sure if CVS sells them though.

All I EVER use anymore is the mug, brush and a decent soap! Sooooo much better! :D

I would be afraid to use the straight razor.

Are safety razors better than something like Gillette Fusion?

@Chief: that electric razor looks great, but $230??? Wow.

I use a Gilette Fusion, but want to go to electric. My beard grows in like a monkey. If I have an evening deposition, I have to shave twice that day. It's ridiculous.

It's all a matter of preference and how your facial hair grows. With a Fusion I would get three to four shaves TOPS out of a cartridge (and they are what... 15 bucks for 4?).

With a safety razor my current blade is at probably 20+ shaves and is still going strong. Not to mention that 100 blades cost $10 bucks. It IS a steeper learning curve and can be "frustrating" trying to find what blade fits your face the best (so buy one of the sample packs with multiple brands of blades if you decide to try it).

As far as the straight razor... was TERRIFYING the first time I tried it. Quite possibly the scariest thing I'd ever done. Doesn't bother me at all now though.

Thanks!

I will use a cartridge on my Gillette until I possibly can't stand it anymore because they cost so much.

These are what I'm looking for:

I bought this BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive
And downloaded Torque

They work great together and Torque gives you tons of information. It has saved us a lot with the code reading function. That said 0440 on a Dodge Ram with a Hemi is driving us crazy!!!!!
