Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

4.3 can be really annoying custom rom wise due to there being two very different builds. I have found that PA uses a mesh of both JWR and JSS builds which makes finding custom kernels difficult.

I just pulled Ginny out of my pocket and she was completely dead and unresponsive. Had to do a battery pull to bring her back to life. I tell ya, folks, she's letting me know that she wants to retire.

Moto Maker had better come out for Verizon soon - we want a new phone!

My phone has been 10000x better since I put a 4.3 ROM (Shiny) on it. It rarely lags and I never get screen of deaths anymore.

Battery life is still horrendous, but that's a different story.

I think the GNex needs a simpler ROM - I was getting laggy on JBSourcery, but Shiny has breathed a whole new life into my phone.

Early reports are saying that the Verizon HTC One bootloader can be unlocked through the HTC dev tool. Don't know how long that will last though.

Starting to get a little annoyed with Motorola and AT&T. The announcement from AT&T said those picked would get an "opportunity to design and receive their Moto X before the general public." After verifying the order over the phone on Monday afternoon and being told 4 business days (today or Friday depending on how you count it), I am told today that my order has not shipped and there is a 2 day delay. I could go to AT&T and pick up one tomorrow :S

Wow, yeah I think I'll jump over to the AT&T store tomorrow just to play with it, see how the X feels and acts... then impatiently wait for Verizon's Moto Maker to open up.

STIGY: Does Shiny ROM have options like Sourcery and ParanoidAndroid? After having a ROM with tons of options, I can't do straight stock anymore...

Sorry Verizon, but a promotion to give unlimited data users 6GB instead of 2 for $30 if they sign up for Edge still ain't going to fly.

Nope - its basically a stock ROM, but there are tons of different mod-packs available.

Where did you see this?

I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they just get rid of unlimited.

Already rumors of that going around. Think back to the last time you could get unlimited data when signing up with Verizon.... As soon as the last person on contract with unlimited runs out, they will change their terms and abolish unlimited. That will be in about 6 months.

So I'm following the Chief's user guide to install a new rom, and was using Goo manager to download gapps, and a rom off AOKP.

For the life of me, I can't find the rom on the phone. I can find the Gapps, but using AStro and also probing the phone connected as a usb device yields no Rom. I have the download path set in goo manager to sdcard/goomanager/

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong. I can't find the Rom in either astro, or USB connected, it's like it disappears somewhere

I'm tired of pathetic battery life, got the 14% left warning at 11:30 today, after making zero phone calls, and using Google maps twice.

Gotta agree with the Chief, Moto X or something different is needed.

The last day a person could sign a contract and keep unlimited was June 20th, 2012 unless they pre-ordered the S3 prior to that day, which would make their contract date start when they activated the phone. So sometime around July 10th 2012. Around July 10th 2014 is going to be the moment of truth for the remaining unlimited users.

Well, I have to admit: it's been a great ride with unlimited data for $9.99 a line on four lines. So even if they end it and we end up on a big time shared data bucket, we've saved a butt ton of money since January 2010 when the deal hit.

Maybe this will buy enough time for another LTE carrier to come into the area... but right now, VZW is all there is here :(

No AT&T in your area?

Yeah same thing for me chief. Every other carrier in my area either doesn't cover my house, my work, or the trip in between.

I just discovered that T-Mo has moved in with LTE! It says my coverage is "GOOD" but hopefully that would be sufficient! Unlimited everything, 4 smartphones, for $180 (plus all the fees) would put it about square with what we're paying VZW right now for 2000 minutes.

Go ahead, Verizon, I have OPTIONS now! :D
