Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

It's funny the different types of people you encounter when selling things.

I've had two people run away from me when I tell them I'm going to test their $100 bills with that little yellow marker thing.

I feel icky selling on Craigslist, but haven't had any bad scrapes so far.

As for football, the last 2:00 in the Ravens/Vikings game was AMAZING. 4 touchdowns in 2 minutes??!!

Ridiculous.

LOL, I try my best to steer clear of Criagslist. List something for $100 and people offer $25...no lie. I have had some success, but I don't list anything nice on there, just stuff I want to get rid of in a hurry for cheap.

That was quite ridiculous indeed! The Eagles went on quite the scoring frenzy late in the game as well.

Finally ventured outside at noon to discover my Escape completely covered in ice, took a half hour to clear off.

After my lazy birthday weekend, back to the grind. Plenty of chores around the place and shopping to do. Nice to be busy. :)
Weather seemed to clear for a while this afternoon with even some peeks of sunshine. But! I think snow or some sort of mix is back on its way tonight and/or tomorrow. We shall see....

Ugh. I'm done. I'm so done. Even I'm getting sick of this whole stupid exchange/return crap I do.

I honestly think there is some kind of mental illness going on with me in some way.

Yes, yes, I went back to the iPad mini today. The Air is too freaking big, everything looks blown up. Putting SquareTrade on it to protect against damage, defects, etc., but I'm so done returning and exchanging. I couldn't even look the CSR in the eyes when I did it. She was the same one from my last two exchanges.

This time, on my way out of Best Buy, I took my receipt and tore it up into dozens of pieces and threw it in the trash.

I'm done!!

Why do you keep exchanging?

That is the question. I have no idea. I buy something; it's not perfect, so I switch to something else, and then I regret it. So I return it, but then something else catches my eye, so I exchange it for that.

Then, I miss what I had before so I exchange again. Then I realize that it wasn't as great as what I just had, so I go back.

There is something wrong with me, I know. But oh well. At least I'm still married to the same person; my wife has grown to accept it. She just figures as long as I'm not going outside of my gadget budget, it's my thing. My friends just shake their heads.

It used to be funny. But now it's just weird.

I have had urges regarding the Nexus 5, which I have quashed at the outset.

Now that I have destroyed my Best Buy receipt, I think I will be ok.

Looked at a new apartment. They completely gutted an old school and everything is brand new except the floors, redone hardwood. The guy showed me top to bottom and everything that wasn't done yet. He even told me the amount of the mortgage they took out for the place. It was the most thorough walk thru I've ever had. They sunk a lot of money into this place and it shows.

Did the math and it is doable but I keep looking at the money available after paying everything and then subtracting the roughly $400 more that would go out for the new place.

I would rather get a house, but with the new mortgage rules taking affect soon, I'll won't be able to get one for awhile.

This is the kitchen and dining area

Morning all, hope no one is getting hit with this weather too badly!

I got some good news over Thanksgiving - my Verizon contract expires on Dec 15 :D So I'll probably be buying my N5 tonight! Just to confirm: the one you purchase from Google Play is totally unlocked, correct? I can use it on any carrier that supports it? I would just get it through T-Mobile, but it appears they only have the 16GB version. Am I crazy for buying the unlocked 32GB myself and bringing it to T-Mobile? It works out to be the same amount of money, doesn't it?
If you buy it from T-Mobile, you'll pay an extra 100 bucks or more, plus, they don't have the 32gb version. The N5s sold by Google, T-Mobile, Sprint and Best Buy are all the same. I bought one from Best Buy, took the Sprint SIM out, and put in my AT&T SIM with no problem.

Enjoy your N5!

Nice place, Halon! That's some serious "old school" living right there! :p

Woke up to find a sheet of ice all over my vehicle. Schools are closing all over the place. Saved me a trip toward Nashville until tomorrow to pick up a Craigslist deal. WHEW! It's 71 in my house, I think I'll sit right here :D

Good morning all - looking for some help / advice with some HVACt stuff.

So I installed a Nest Thermostat at my mom's over the weekend and she had an issue with the heat coming on Monday morning. I had her put the old thermostat back on and the house is still stuck at 55

I was thinking along the lines of the Best Buy employees :)

Yeah, I really don't know what's happening. I've done so many exchanges. I think it's 8 but it might be 7 or 9, I've basically lost count. But the weird thing is that before I would be banned from returning anything for 3 months after my 3rd exchange which, let's face it, is a very sound business practice. You can't have crazy people returning things over and over. That means Best Buy loses out on retail profit and has to sell it either open-box or, as in the case of the three rooted Note 10.1's I returned, have to send it back to the manufacturer. But now, that policy seems to not be in place any more. They ask for my ID every time I return, and that's how they track you. I keep waiting for the customer service person to say, "Yeah, um. . . ." but they never do.
Maybe it's because of the holiday return policy, and they just don't care for now?

I don't know. Look, I'm ashamed of this. But we all do things we are ashamed of, right?

Right?

Discovered something extremely annoying last night on my Moto X...maybe I just don't know how to operate my phone...but I shot a 45 second video and was going to email it. When I attached it, I got the message about not being able to send attachments over 25MB. I thought, that's crazy...over 25MB for a 45 second video?? I checked and sure enough, 100MB for that short video! I could find no way to compress it, change the quality, etc on the phone and no way to change the recording quality to prevent that from happening in the future. Now I have to find an app that will convert it to an e-mail-able format :S

Thanks! :D We put in the order to Google Play last night; the site said "will leave after Dec 11"; perhaps they don't want to reveal the backlog? Has there been any recent updates on how backlogged they are? I'm hoping to get the phone by the 16th; otherwise, I'll be phoneless, since my contract expires on the 15th.

Can someone with a Chromecast try and see if they can stream videos directly from their phones to it via Avia (free app on the Play Store)?

And if so, what kind of video format are you using?

I've been waiting to pull the trigger on this because of lack of local streaming from my phone or tablet. Supposedly this has changed today.

If no one else has later - I can check for you.
