Galaxy S3 Watering Hole

Whoa, sorry to see that, K'lin. Important thing is that you guys are safe. Homeowners insurance ftw!

Wish it were that easy. See, I live in a area that was kicked hard by hurricane Ike.... so I have to use "Texas windstorm" for things like this. Code named.... (let's see how much we can avoid paying to homeowners ) .... this little nature blessing will surely cost me a pretty penny!

But all is well, unlike my neighbors I actually have a roof over my head!

Nothing like a Friday night tornado ripping through my yard!

Happy weekend folks!

Wow! Glad you are okay. Also glad you stayed inside while this was happening. Must have been freaky.

Mike, I was wondering how widespread is counterfeit electronics where you live?

They're everywhere TJ. I can pop downstairs from my apartment and buy a knock-off Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S3 or Note from the China Mobile dealer that's under the apartment building. Then there's counterfeit clothing, watches, Zippos, handbags, etc, etc. Xilihot is a small city in Inner Mongolia, 200,000, we got no less than three fake Apple Stores...and when the MacBook has a Windows key...hmmm.

Ahhh. My hookup in China for stuff got shut down. But I am still bitter about the fake gs3 battery I got last month.

It really was a fake? I bought a third-party Samsung compatible battery in Shenzhen a couple of months ago. And it's actually better than the original Samsung battery, same size and lasts longer, 2.4Ah. The original Samsung battery is 2.1Ah. It really is a Chinese battery, it's all written in Chinese, apart from the brand "Bestery". I wanted a second battery for when I'm travelling.

I've got a couple of items on their way from Shenzhen this week, an LED projector for myself, and a real Samsung S4 for a friend. Although the S4 was bought in Hong Kong, because he wants Google.

My new projector.

Morning all :)

Anyone catch some of the tech headlines this past week? The big one that stood out for me was the Gold plated 128gb iPhone 5S that leaked out. Talk about innovation! Holy cow, that is going to completely bring down the house of cards that is android. Better sell your plastic android powered toys now before that new iPhone drop since anything that android does now is a blatant copying of the superior device.

Oh, can't forget the dual LED flash on the thing, which, don't make since since both flashes are on the same side of the lens! Would it not make more since to space the flashes apart on each side of the lens for more even lighting? Well, not totally an apple thing, many Android phones do this too, as well as the windows phones (lumia?)

--------

Rumors of a white LG optimus G pro leaked out for at&t. Still kind of meh on the device. Probably something I would pick up if I had the spare 5 bills laying around. My Note 2 is still running pretty decent. More on this in a few...

---------

Speaking of Samsung, looks as if the Galaxy mega (6.3") phablet phablet is due to hit AT&T this week... My sister may be very interested in this device. True, not a whole lot of power, but she is in to reading and the larger text would be nice. And she could make phone calls on it too.

Personal tech news:

I found my sony smart watch, charged it up and loaded the software onto my note II and gave it a whirl. Well, 150 bucks (when I got it) just to receive a couple text messages and have a slightly warmer then usual phone, meh, not for me. It works with email too, but most email I get is junk anyway. Weather? Yet another weather app to download so I opted out of it. It would rock if I could get a live radar on the thing. That would make the watch totally worth it, it don't even need to be level 3 data, just smoothed out just enough to show me something is going on where I can decide to go out and have a look.

I left the watch home the following day and plan on removing the additional software on my device. May sell or pass the thing off to my sis or mom.

It also does twitter, but I need the official twitter app. When I already paid for falcon pro.

-----

No new nexus 7 for me yet, nor kindle.

EDIT: Smart watch would not connect to my sisters GS3. Toggle bluetooth, devices etc. Will not find it. Even uninstalled the livewire manager and tried again. Did not work.
