Galaxy S3 Watering Hole

Try an AOSP rom on your phone an see if you like the feel of it. Some people like the OEM skin stuff, others hate it and swear to only use AOSP. Many people experience AOSP for the first time and can't go back.

I haven't tried any roots, but would like too. However I love stock android.

I was thinking about try it on my old S1 because with my luck i'll probably brick it , can't trust myself to do it on the S3

Good thinking, use a device you can possibly afford to do without. thing is, I use all my tablets on a daily basis, so maybe I will get another phone for really cheap and learn to play around with it with various OS's.
I wanted to install Linux Mint or something on a Android device.
I know that there is one Linux (other than Android) that can be installed on a phone.

Really? Guys, you don't know what you're missing! No more bloatware and total control over your device are reasons enough right there.

And you can add further customization and get better performance as well. Just do your research, follow instructions and it'll be just fine. :)

Seems easy enough. But for me, something always goes wrong.

I'm waiting for a stable 4.3. Trim sounds great if it works.
