And you have me R.O.F.L. with that excellent response
:D

I know.nothing about em. I don't even have Google play on the darn thing and its an android 4.0

You may have to side load the play store. Or try to download Amazons app store. Make sure you go into dev (or security) and check "unknown sources"

If its locked or grayed out or not there... well, you may have an issue...

Howdy all! How is everyone's night? It's starting to rain here. Might be snow by morning.

Argh. So I got my car back today. (YAY!) And the dealer/mechanic has been proud of the fact that he got me my 15% pulley I wanted for the supercharger (makes it boost more which means GO FASTER, QUICKER!) When I picked it up from him and started it, the loud clicking of the old dying supercharger was definitely gone, which was a relief, but he put up a red flag for me when he said the pulley was so large that it barely fit on the reman'd supercharger. :frown:

The second red flag was when he said: It really runs good, but it takes longer and you have to rev it higher for the supercharger to kick in.

DOH!! That's what happens when you put in a LARGER pulley. The reduced pulley is what will make your supercharger spin faster and put more boost into your engine. After driving it myself I am almost 100% convinced that's what he did! I will need either photos, or a look at the stock pulley for comparison to know for sure, but it definitely runs like it has a larger pulley in it, not a smaller one.

Now, I realize that the larger pulley will decrease wear on the supercharger, as well as improve fuel economy slightly, but I'm plenty happy with 33+ MPG ... I want speed and power! :D

I am glad to have my car back, but dang. Sometimes I just can't win. Not to mention it was over a week late in getting fixed.

And here was me thinking superchargers were geared in such a way as they are always 'kicking in' as oppose to a turbo that has to rely on exhaust pressure to spin up... That was meant to be the plus side of a super, instant power, always there, just not as much of a boost as a turbo.

Ok....I'm lost ... maybe coffee will help?, Good morning

Ok ok ok.... it's been awhile since I've been Wow'd by an app.... but, a few weeks ago my girlfriend who switched from iphoney to S3 was complaining about not having a voice mail record checker thingy. I explained she can get whatever she wants and found one for her. Omg, apparently att offers this service, and I can't get it? Oh, hell no, no one tells K'lin I can't have something so, here it is....

Visual voicemail +

It is amazing, I know longer have to listen to 544 messages to get to the one I want.... Just press and go, and I can delete ones I know I don't want to hear... (like ones from att lol)

So, I've been Wow'd and I hope someone else will be to!

They are. They kick in faster and technically are always kicking in, as you say, but there are RPM levels that offer your maximum boost. Now that I have a larger pulley (my educated guess + hunch at this point) the boost is less substantial and hits those optimum levels at a slower rate. And also, superchargers don't offer as much of a boost as turbos, typically. They are also a bit more complex of a device, and if you blow one out, it is more likely to send metal shards through your motor, possibly causing substantial damage. Turbos have a more noticeable lag, but are a bit simpler and less risky of a device, and are capable of boosting substantially more.

Hence, it's no surprise that after 2007, all MINI Cooper S models came with turbos, and they stopped making them with superchargers. Aside from the turbo lag, it's overall a better system than a supercharger.

Lol. Basically your sparks ignite the gasoline, right? Basic combustion engine stuff. Fuel needs air to burn, however, so a key component of turbos and superchargers is their ability to put more are into that process. Basically more air and more fuel = go faster (or "boost"). It's really pretty simple.

Think of a two person bike, but the rear person engages in full force only when needed. Under normal relaxed operation, the front person pedals, but for going up hills, rapid acceleration, or to reach a maximum speed, the rear person will also pedal, "boosting" the force the bicycle chain exerts on the wheels, which roll down the road to you make you go.

Did that help? :D:p:)

Is there a hidden cost for that? You might be getting charged for it. Verizon offers a similar feature as well, but charges an extra $2.99 per month. UNLESS YOU HAVE AN IPHONE. THEN YOU GET IT FREE.

NOPE I've had it a free weeks, I.haven't seen one. It's in the play store and the reviews didn't mention that either?.... Oh God, I hope not. Lol

Ooooo car talk! Yeah, I have a turbocharger myself. Another nice thing about turbochargers, is if you are judicious with the throttle, you will get mileage as if it is not even there... Superchargers are parasitic even when there is no boost being created. Plus its kind of fun when you burn through the lag and all of the sudden get pushed back into your seat.
