"Gay Androids" at Pride Parade Chicago

I've always wanted to see this on a gay pride shirt around Christmas:

The most messed up part about all this is, and unfair IMO, if I were to wear a "Straight Pride" shirt, I would get called a bigot. So that's my reasonings against any pride. People are stupid.

I see nothing wrong with you or anyone wearing a straight pride t-shirt. I've actually have seen those shirts at the gay pride in ny a few years ago.
Hmmm that just got me thinking. I may want to do a shirt saying straight pride in front and gay pride in the back.
Speaking of shirts, I uploaded one of those Android gay designs I redesigned onto zazzle site and ordered it. On the front is the androids, on the back it says Evolution (in reference to my EVO).

I'll help this get back on topic. I'd prefer the men's t shirt even though I'm a woman :) And just for the record it's because I'm fat, not because I'm a lesbian ;)

Haha now that's funny. But you can't tell me people won't object and give you flak for doing so. Like I said, people in general are stupid.

Ooh! I like the girly droids. They are so cute!

If the name for the droid is Andy or Mike (not sure if that was decided) what are the names of gay droids or the girl droids for that matter?

Andy and Mike

Andrea and Michelle?
Well, I read a long time ago that the Android mascot was called Mike by one of the developers. the name of Andy comes from the article I posted on the first post. You folks combined the names for the two mascots on the design. Lol as for the female names, I like Michelle for one, why not use Taylor for the other one. ;)

actually all my gay friends that saw it loved it.

I don't know whether or not you're a bigot, Iowa. You do come across as one here in the forums, in your postings, though. :(

I'd recommend wearing one of the nice gay pride shirts for a few weeks, for starters. Purchase several, and in many sizes because it could become a fad amongst friends and family. ;)

Gay Pride t-shirts, gay pride clothing, clothing, gay shirts, gay gifts, lesbian t-shirts, gay sportswear, gay pride t-shirts, gay pride shirts, gay pride merchandise, gay pride apparel, gay shirts

During that time, when you're wearing your new gear, visit or contact one of the finest organizations for supporters of gay rights, straight and gay, that my wife and I have ever belonged to: PFLAG (Parents Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)

PFLAG: Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays

Get in there and talk. Friends await you. :)

Thanks for the link! I need to get myself another rainbow bracelet. The one I got from my brother was lost a short while ago. :( The absolute best gift that I ever received from my family was from him. He and I are closer than the vast majority of straight brothers. :) Love him!

I won't be donning any "gay" apparel... so that's out. Some people can't take brutal honesty. In fact, most people can't. Maybe I'm just used to the shitty people here in Chicago, and I admit I'm a bit of a cynic, but none the less, most of my posts have a degree of logic you simply can't deny, no matter how hard you try and dislike what I have to say, and maybe even tell yourself it isn't true.

Just like I've been called a racist on here too, for posting pure statistical data from a reputable source about black people. Tell that to someone who knows me however, and they will laugh at you. Especially the black ones =P.

There's one thing you can count on me for, and that's to be completely honest and upfront about things. I have no need to lie on an internet forum, therefore take heed despite my beliefs on the causality's/consequences of certain things, even in this thread, have no direct correlation about how I treat/view people that fall in categories of different natures.

As a great song in Toy Story once said, "You've got a friend in me."

I think EVERYONE should just drop it and turn this thread back to the original intentions of the OP. :)

Maybe the mods could go through and delete all the posts that aren't about t-shirts then; it's very frustrating to have to read ill thought through comments, but then have your replies deleted, while the obnoxious comments remain.

I would love for them to do that. It might take a week or 2 though. :p

Anyways... BACK ON TOPIC! or at least close to it!

I have mild disagreement, Vihzel, about the way this topic has turned. It seems like an organic process, not merely completely off-topic banter.

The parade which Google participated in, and the apparel being offered and linked in here, all garner not just the pride that most people feel great about, but also controversy and most importantly, discussion (although I did attempt to begin a thead on this, "Gay Rights," which died a quick death ;)).

It is a chance for things to come to light again, as we talk about it all (again and again.. lol).

If I were a moderator here I'd allow it and treat the thread as a fine example of how forums can bring out interesting debate from something as mundane as a parade.

Slug and Twospirits are doing a perfect job, in my opinion, with the reminders about civility (it's in the user guidelines and the link to Zero Tolerance Policy is on the front page).

Thank you.... somebody else understands the dilemma mods face whenever we log-in. It's easy to delete posts, but much harder to do so without killing a thread stone-dead. :D

The important words above are "interesting debate". That is most definitely not served by a rigid insistance that any particular viewpoint is "right" or "wrong", or forking it away from the core issue. There may be related issues that you want to discuss, but please open a new topic in that case.

I also want to see some sensitivity shown. Remember that your words are being read by real people with the same feelings and emotions as yourself. Nowhere is the ZTP more relevant than in this thread.

LMAO

I'm not looking to be the lesbian Android poster girl. :p

I couldn't agree more. It grows increasingly difficult in some threads and this is a major one, for me at least. I could easily see myself going through and deleting some of the posts I don't agree with or find offensive. I have to remind myself that everything here is being read by others though. Some of what is said may actually change a view or create some understanding where none existed before.

Let's keep the discussion going, but keep it polite.

...Let's keep the discussion going...
That seems to contradict what some other mods are saying though; what's the point of putting the time and effort into a discussion that one mod encourages, if another is just going to delete posts anyway?

Then some will feel that their time and effort is better spent either sticking to the OP's happy subject of gay pride parades and gear or forming another thread on the topic they are interested in discussing (with civility ;)).

It's already been confirmed. Just letting you know that now. :p

LOL Great, what happens if I ever switch phones.

I think most of the other mods will agree with me when I say that it is fine for the discussion to continue, but the "right or wrong" aspect of being gay is rather pointless to argue. Personally I am fine with people believing whatever they choose to, because I know myself and I know my life. I know that my kids, my girlfriend and I are all happy well adjusted people. My kids treat my girl and I just like I see kids treat any other set of parents. We have the normal lives that any other couple has, we just happen to be two women instead of a man and a woman. I think discussing issues that the gay community has is a wonderful thing. Will it change anyone else's view? I have no idea, but it would be wonderful if it did for just one person.

So I think discussion is fine, but getting into a huge debate or argument about the rights or wrongs of being gay won't get anyone anywhere. It also isn't really appropriate for this thread.

I guess; just seems a very random, incoherent way to take part in a discussion; which is, I thought, the point of a forum.

No thread remains strictly on-topic. If they did they'd be contrary to human thinking dynamics; one thing leads to another, either as supportive data to the original subject or as peripheral discussion tributary to that subject, such as gay rights being branched off from gay pride functions.

Attempting to characterize homosexuality in a negative light, however, does not branch off from the subject of gay pride, but attempts to de-legitimize it, which is an attack and is contrary to thread etiquette and perhaps to forum guidelines as well given that gays are in the forums and do not need users telling them that they are living contrary to their interpretation of the Bible or whatever.

I agree, which is why I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with a mod deleting post like that, such as #178, but they haven't: one of my posts which quoted IOWA ludicrous claims however has been deleted.

So it seems that while some mods want a discussion which could lead to those with 'negative' views being shown perfectly reasonable arguments that may change their erroneous views for the better, other mods do not want any such thing, yet all are content with the original 'negative' posts remaining:confused:

That is a testament to the challenge of moderating a forum cluster.

What all of the moderators have in common, quite thoroughly, though, is an eye for decency toward fellow members here. When that seems to be threatened or violated, you'll see staff input.

The point at which that happens varies a bit from mod to mod, of course, being as how they are not a scripted program but human beings. ;)
