Root GB miui 2.3.5

Yup lets hope they fix the folder text colour in time for Friday. Also Id like the devs to sort out date and time bit in the status bar when you drag down the notification bar. Its a complete mess atm! Changelog is out tomorrow so lets see what else they have in store for us!
 
Yes I know but Its still doesnt look right. In Froyo's version date is on the left and time is on the right with the network logo just underneath the time. Why did they have to mess with that I dont know!
 
I decided to switch from GV to MIUI XJ yesterday. Figured since I'd started on Sense, tried (and loved) AOSP, I might as well see what the MIUI hype was about. So far I'm liking it, though I hope the graphical bugs that pop up (like black text on black bg's and vice versa) get sorted soon.

Overall I like how things come together, as it were, and the built-in theme manager is nice. Also, the stock sms and dialer apps are decent, so no need for me to revert to Go SMS Pro. The camera's a bit better as well.

Looking forward to see what Friday's update brings.

Thanks a lot! Those screen shots look top class. I was thinking that the only major thing I would change was the current menus being too light coloured, and then boom! they go with the black and orange. Friday can't come quick enough.
 
mmmmmm, starting to think i may have to give this a go. liking the black/orange look, might be something to do over the weekend.

Where's the best place to get the black/orange XJ version??

Hmmm not sure I'm too keen on the darker look. I know they want/need people to be checking their site every week but the constant updates with just a little new temptation can be a nuisance to my productivity. :D

I'm getting great battery life on the most recent ROM, really hope it can stay like this. It's so good don't think I'll bother updating for a while despite the fact the text is blacked out on the change windows screen of the browser.

(disclaimer: may have a quick flash on Sunday to see how the new look actually goes on the phone!)
 
I know what you mean. Look at me for instance I havent updated since beginning of Febuary! Im quite content with 1.2.4 It works well for me. But once GB MIUI is mature I shall update. That could be a long wait though!

TBH mate its running really stable for me, no FC's or impromptue reboots, been using for about 5 or 6 days now and apart from the odd bit of text being the same colour as the background, its been probably the best ROM ive used. And the battery.....well im gob smacked, it was horrendous the first day or two, but its settled right down, im personally finding it better than Oxygen (2.0.3 i think was the last Oxygen ROM i was running) Im certain you know this, but just do a Nandroid and flash it, give it a few days, if you dont like it restore the Nandroid, i definitely recommend 1.4.15 over any of the older ones i tried, looks so much nicer than other ROMS aswell (IMO of course). LOL ill shut up now, im certain you know everything ive just said anyway :p Oh and i cant wait for this darker theme to be released, sposed to be today according to Mark, lets hope so, very impressed with the look of it.
 
No its good getting feedbacks cos Ive not really had a chance to play around with it. You're right few folks have commented its stable so thats good news! MY main issue is regarding the layout and how it looks. Im not keen on orange overglow esp on white background. That doenst look right. There are few black on black text issues aswell. I know you could correct that by turning off the compatibility mode but thats not the point! If you were on Froyo version you'll notice all the main setting tabs were along the bottom of the screen they have shifted it to the top of the screen. Again I dont like that. Other then that I have to say everything else looks good.
 
1.4.22 is out folks! Bad news the black theme isnt available yet! It could be made available next week but dont quote me on that lol
 
Tried this Rom - lasted for about 10 minutes. Initially looked very pretty and cool. Started to play about with it and just kept getting loads of force closures - even just clicking on the settings icon would crash it.

Returned to Redux.

That's a shame. Did you do full wipes?? they had problems with settings last week but that was apparently addressed this week
 
Yes I did full wipes. Initially fine, then one FC, then a second. Pretty soon there were a lot of FC's, even just clicking on settings produced one. Allowed reports to be sent then flashed different rom.
 
No, never changed radio, assumed kernel required would be in the rom so never changed that either. Just did a full wipe and flashed the rom and then the language pack. Looked pretty cool though - I was showing an iphone user it. Don't think he was too impressed at the F/C's. Then flashed a sense rom (Leedroid) and then back to Redux, just to show them how versatile and Android device is.

A little gutted about this, been leaving a few messages over at MIUIDEV but Mark doesnt seem to be answering as to when they expect to get this to us, nvm, i guess you cant complain too much when these things are free!
