By the way Phil and zig1 have you both tried the "extended setting mod"? Basically this mod gives you an option to tweak status bar. You can choose to remove/add clock, date, debug plus gives you options to choose date formats aswell.. It works brilliantly for alot of people including me and the mod developer updates it every weekend! Currently works on 1.7.15. Highly recommended!

Those mods are implemeded within the settings and you have option to turn it on or off. Have a look at that link provided...

im running build number 1.7.15-miui-xj and used to have an update option this has now gone, am i on the latest stable build, because i had the option to update to 1.7.21 but i cant find out how to do it.

Just downloaded the status bar mod, but its for 1.7.22 so will have to wait till that version is released.
I just tried installing a 1.7.8 version I had but It caused it to fail to boot. I had to nandroid to get up and running again.

v1.7.22 is beta. Strangely enough there is no real difference at the mo except the beta better known as "development rom builds" is released every friday and stable version is RC better known as "release candidates" v2.3.4a. They based that on v.1.6.24 funnily enough and it is updated once a month.

Just tried to update to 21 but it said signature verification failure, even though its signed, so I turned verification off, installed the update but on boot it stuck at the s-off screen for about 10 minutes so I pulled the battery and restored. Is that normal? For it to stick at s-off I mean.

That's because of the signature, press the power button to get to recovery menu and reboot.

Yes i turned it off and ive tried the update twice, both times it gets stuck. Lets hope we can update soon
