Actually, after the 2.1 Flood of updates, I remember reading that Google will no longer be crazy with any updates and allow the OS to level off. I think from thereafter you are going see "device" specific application upgrades, say Google Maps for EVO, not an upgrade to 2.x-3.x, etc.

That is the way to go iMHO... Google announced that they want to get to major upgrades (maybe yearly) so to concentrate on other project development.

Anyway... can't source it, cause I can't remember where I read it, lol...

Good. They need to get all the phones and carriers on the same version and fast. Once the OS is where they want it to be, no need to have major updates more than once, maybe twice a year.

I read that too, but I don't think it's going to change much. Google will throw out their generic update and HTC will have to add Sense, then Sprint will have to test it, then add their bloatware, then test again.......

Samsung will have to add their Touchwiz..........

Moto will have to add their blur.........

yada, yada, yada.........bleh, bleh, bleh..............

IMO Google's simply washing their hands of fragmentation.

No one will be happy cuz updates will still be slow.

I feel for you man. This is the reason I bought my desire unlocked. Upgrades and of course I don't want all kinds of third party crap and logos all over it.

The funny thing is some of these people will be back in year talking about how the EVO is not getting 4.0 or some $hit.

The good side of that is it will get them out of the Hero forum...

I have no complaints with my stock 1.5 Hero and 2.1 will come when it comes. If it doesn't, there's always other alternatives.
