Root Getting rid of a splash.zip

Ok so i flashed one of those custom splash zips. i didnt make a backup before i did it and nothing is going wrong, i just think i might want to get rid of it or change it. lets say i want to put another one on there. do i just flash it? then how will it know which one to load? can i delete the other one somehow? i mean i did make a backup before i flashed the mobster tweaks so i guess i could go back to that. i would rather just be able to delete the splash zip i flashed...is that possible? hope this makes sense.

Edit: And if i do have to use the backup will that get rid of any mp3s ive put on since then? Cause ive put like 30 albums on so that would really suck!

I'm not certain what you mean about splash.zip. I presume you mean the first pic you see when you boot the phone (splash.img). If so, what you can do is mount the phone in download mode (from off, hole power and both volume buttons) and replace it. Or you could replace the splash.img in the .zip you used to flash the image in the first place.
If you have anymore questions, just post. Someone will get to it eventually:D

OH! And when you do a nandroid backup, you just backup what is on the phone, not the SDCard. So,if your .mp3s are on the sdcard, you should be safe.

the splash.img is not backed up by a Nandroid back up, so don't bother with that... neither are your mp3s, so that will have no effect (as long as they are on the SD, like Ryder said.

If you flash a new splash.img, it will overwrite the old one. If you delete it entirely, using the download mode method that ryder referred to, you will see the built-in default one (Android logo).

I guess i used the wrong terms. It is a splash img but it is one of the zips you can get in one of the threads around here...cant remember the name. But that makes sense. So if i want to get rid of it completely i just go into download mode and delete it. If i want to change it i can just flash one of the other zips and it will overwrite it even if they have different names? And as far as a nandroid backup goes, when i make one it only copies what is on the phone correct? So lets say i have a few apps that i moved to the sd card. When i make a nandroid backup it wont back them up. So next time i make a backup i should move apps that i want saved from the sdcard to the phone? Thats awesome that i wont lose all of my mp3s. Thanks for the help guys! Im glad you all still check these forums out because over at xda you cant post in certain threads until you have a certain amount of post.

The way you keep saying you flash it I think you are talking about a boot animation (bootanimation.zip)
That's located in /system/media. Again, you could change it by modifying the .zip you used to put on your phone in the first place. If you wanted to remove it, (from a home screen) hit "menu"--> settings--. CyanogenMod settings--> performace--> check the box for booting up faster or removing the animation. I don't remember what it's called.

Well i did flash it i guess. It is a zip file. I go into cwm then install zip. So that is flashing it i guess...not sure. Regardless, it is the splash img, not the boot animation. I think i have my answer though. I just want to remove that zip from the phone all together. I have all of my zips and mods and all that on the sdcard, but i dont want to use that splash any more. I didnt know if i could just take it off somehow without any bad side effects, or if i could just flash another one. I think i got it figured out though. Sorry about using wrong terminology and thanks for the help.

There is a flashable zip that changes the splash.img. That is what they were referring to.

Like others said changing that won't make you lose anything (except the old splash screen). You can flash right over it.
