Most iPhone users don't know anything about Android. Most of them think Smartphone=iPhone.

There are many iPhone users who know a lot and like it better, but the the majority dont know anything about anything. they know the name iPhone and see what it can do and they are hooked. (My mom is that way with her Blackberry Curve).

I too wouldnt trade the Inc for ANYTHING now or in near future. On GB now, and the phone is awesome. Even if Inc got official GB, it wont be as good as the one I run now!

The iPhone 4 can't multitask...

Multi-tasking is the ability to run multiple applications simultaneously. The iPhone 4 does this. It may not do it in the same fashion as a desktop, but it still does it to a degree.

It is limited, but it's still multi-tasking.

The iPhone does some things better and for a certain part of the market it's the better choice. iTunes is better and the App Store is better in quality and quantity than the Android equivalents. This alone is not enough to sway me to iPhone. I need and want a phone that can do flash. The iPhone can't do that and that is enough of a deal breaker for me.

If my sister asked which phone to get I would tell her how much I love my Incredible but that she should probably get an iPhone because for her level of experience it would be the better experience for her. Android just needs to polish some things up and it will be the better format for the casual users out there like my sister. I think in the next 12-18 months Android will be at that level. For us technodorks like myself and the posters here (and my brother in law!) the Andoroid platform is the better choice.

Agreed....this sums up the current state on Android nicely I think. I love my Dinc....but I only recommend it to tech savvy people.

I had an iPhone user that iPhone's have been multitasking from the beginning because the underlying OS programing is doing more than one thing at once. I about started to cry when I heard that statement.

blah cry all you want man i phone will never be greater then android is as a whole... the one phone that they have compared to the hundreds running android it really aint much of a comparison

Sorry acording to them no phones that came out before the start of this year are getting gb

If that is true..."F" Verizon....and "F" Android. I'll be an iphone user so quick. These updates are killing me.

Tell me I need to keep my phone for 20 months and then stop supporting after 6. Rule the suck!

My sources say GB will be coming to phones made before 2011. And to be patient because it hasn't even been released tot he Nexus yet.

They just released the Droid Pro and Droid 2, those should get GB for sure. The OG Droid should also get GB as well since it is the phone that started everything Android for VZW. The Incredible should also receive GB, especially after this last strong push they had to sell as many of them as they could. If the worst happens then you always have the option to root and install GB. Then that way you also get rid of the bogus apps that Verizon put on there also.

Actually most consumers are getting aware of this and does factor into their decision. I just had a guy buy the HTC Evo over the Epic because of Samsung's bad rep for not pushing out updates. This meant more to him than a slide out keyboard.
You're talking about one guy. I'm talking about millions.

yeah i am knew about the 2.4 but with nothing running it right now it cant even be confirmed as real or not so i guess only time will tell and there will be a whole other push in the rom world to get over to 2.4 as soon as it hits the market

First, you really have to reconsider your definition of support. Not upgrading a phone to the latest version of its OS is not the same thing as not supporting it.

Second, you might want to wait before even saying that the phone will not be upgraded. It's quite possible that no OEMs have upgraded their phones because of the simple fact that 2.4 was scheduled to come out so soon after 2.3.

Think about it. OEMs have no reason to work feverishly and spend money to put 2.3 on their phones when they know that 2.4 would be right around the corner (and don't kid yourself...they knew). Putting 2.3 on the Incredible would've put them at the top of the hill for how long? 2-4 months?

What would you do if you were in charge at HTC and knew Android's upgrade schedule? If it were me, I would have skipped 2.3 altogether and put my efforts into getting 2.4 on our phones as quickly as possible. I wouldn't make any promises to users, though. Y'all are nuts!

I'm not saying 2.4 is a sure thing--I know no more than you--but it makes sense that 2.x versions will be Snapdragon friendly (they're all just step iterations, after all) and that HTC will provide any and all upgrades that make sense (pun intended) and keep them competitive in this explosive market.

This is getting to be ridiculous..... I'm ready to cash in my Droid for a iPhone. At least Apple keeps things up to date, and you don't have to wait 3 months after they announce it.

Not sure if that's true. If I remember correctly, the features of the iPhone 4 were announced in early 2010, and then the software didn't get updated until mid-year around June or so.

Just because something's announced doesn't mean it's ready yet. Plus, with SenseUI, it will take some time to tweak it for 2.3. Patience is key, otherwise rooting is the way to go. Just my $0.02.

Because Apple never provides any meaningful updates. And if it bothers you, you can root/flash to gingerbread.

You are going to trade in your Incredible for an iP4 because it has only received one major OS update since it's release? How many major OS updates has the iP4 received? none.

Go ahead and make the switch.

A lot of us have had 2.3 since December.

well played man and i am right there with ya ... i was talking to my VZW contacts last night and they are saying NOW that there is a good possibility that the INC and the OG droid will be getting GB...
i d k how the OG droid could support does it even have the right hard wear?
i assume it dose because it is an extension of 2.X.X and not 3.0

If you want a phone that even needs to be updated all the time and still want Android, then get the Nexus S. The Nexus phones are updated all of the time, it only means that the company didn't do a good job of testing everything out. I personally like the fact that I know my Inc is up to date and there are no issues with it, besides battery life which root + juice defender have taken care of. To leave a phone just because it isn't upgraded every year is like buying a new set of tires every time you should have them rotated because you don't want to use what has been working perfectly fine for you.
